  • Very sobering and something people need to see.  I hope and pray that this man can find the One True Faith before he dies.

Really I think all professed Catholics should meditate on Hell frequently.  I don't remember which Saint said it but they said something to the effect that the greatest evangelizer for Heaven...is Hell.

    Definitely a must watch video.

One thing, I always thought that the demons would also be tortured in hell but the evidence seems to suggest otherwise.

  • Well, the problem I have with most NDEs is that these guys return, almost always, as "Bible believers", and the people that follow this guy also think that by following his post-NDE example, they can avoid Hell.  There are other NDEs (visions of a paradise-like place), where the people even ask "Jesus" questions and at no point does this vision tell them they need to become Catholic, but just to be "kind" or "generous" and "nithe".  I've not known a single example where someone returns from an NDE to convert to the Catholic faith.  I've seen a few where people who were delinquents (divorced/remarried, etc.) go to a place of extreme happiness, and are never reuked for their adulterous situation or told to amend, but instead come back complacent that they can go to Heaven if they simply carry on the way they were.

They briefly mentioned that while they think his experience is legitimate as it agrees with Catholic teaching he still needs to sincerely and earnestly seek the full truth.

Many people who get spiritual visions let it make then prideful or they become presumptuous, Ascent of Mt Carmel is a great work for avoiding this.

I agree that most NDE are not from God.

Well, I understand their point, and what the guy is saying corresponds to a lot of what various saints have said.

I just think there's a larger dynamic of deception involved with these NDEs.  If you try to imagine running across this guy's video (and weren't watching it with the Dimond Brother commentary), you might think that this guy now speaks with some kind of authority.  "If I want to avoid this place, I'll follow this guy, since he knows a lot, ..." (to his Prot religion).  As I said, I've never seen someone return from one of these NDEs and convert to the Catholic faith (much less the Traditional Catholic faith).  If you look at a lot of these (and I have), it very decidedly comes across as instilling a sense of religious indifferentism, and thus I see it as part of a larger campaign of diabolical deception.

Yes, THEY say that, of course, but just imagine if you're watching this on Youtube somewhere without any Catholic context.  I might go join this guy's Bible-believing religion, considering him to be some kind of sure guide to avoid the place he says he went to.

Oh they are.  The demons always suffer and they burn with hatred which also causes them indescribable pains, many visions of the demons depict them as glowing embers and burnished bronze but God still allows them to torture humans.  They actually suffer more than the worst human could ever suffer.

Not from God, but God allows these to happen. Maybe these are permitted as a wake-up shock or ultimatum (understood that there's always hope remaining until a person's absolute final moments). The ones who react with prideful presumption have failed the test of the NDE, at least for now.

Agreed overall. Yet is it not possible that the few genuinely scared-straight cases know better than to blab about the NDE. The newfound fear of God shuts them up. There's that old saying that "guys who were really in 'Nam don't talk about having been in 'Nam."

Yes… and not just an academic "possibility."

I have spoken with a couple of "trads" who, only after long friendship and trust, revealed their extraordinary diabolical experiences.  Even "trads" keep quiet about things that "the public" discounts as crazy talk.

Yes, but reticent reservedness to avoid being dismissed/accused of crazy talk can be driven in part by human respect.

What I meant is more toward Psalm 123:5-7 below. The realization of having been given a merciful second chance can make a person go silent in awe and gratitude to Our Lord. Thus the NDE becomes a topic that other mortals (other than one's confessor) don't need to know.

    In effect, a self-imposed unilateral NDE-NDA.

    Quote
Our soul hath passed through a torrent: perhaps our soul had passed through a water insupportable. Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us to be a prey to their teeth. Our soul hath been delivered as a sparrow out of the snare of the fowlers. The snare is broken, and we are delivered.

  • So a human being, a creature with far less insight and intelligence than a Fallen Angel, experiences suffering beyond comprehension, while the Fallen laugh and find joy in inflicting the punishment? Sorry, I don’t buy it.
