    - Oklahoma inmate Clayton Lockett died during a botched execution on Tuesday,

    Quote
Lockett, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery for a 1999 crime spree with two co-defendants. He was found to have shot teen-ager Stephanie Nieman and buried her alive in a shallow grave where she eventually died.

    botched execution

We need to stop executions, someone could get hurt.

  • If they want to make executions quick and painless why not use the guillotine. One chop and you are done.

  • It sounds like the execution was a complete success.

If the State were to execute me, I would prefer it be done by hanging or firing squad.

  • You hear the torture that the guy put that girl through... burying her ALIVE and leaving her for dead.

The other one might be arguably WORSE. RAPING an 11 month old?

I don't care how much suffering they go through after what they put those innocent people through to get there to begin with.

    Makes me sick.

  • It is pretty hard for me to get worked up about this man's "suffering" either.

  • And he still has hell to look forward to.

And he still has hell to look forward to.

Not if he made an act of perfect contrition before he gave up his soul to God.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

  • Why don't you put him forward for Canonisation Poche?

After all there is a precedent now.

And think of the inspiration he would be to other death row inmates.

There are better examples for the inmates. St Dismas, toe thief who Christ said to while he was on the Cross, "This day you will be with me in Paradise."

  • But he was just a thief.  Not in a death row killer's league.

    Newchurch likes sensational saints.

  • After they have your sympathy for the "poor man", they begrudgingly reveal why he was on Death Row in the first place -- at the VERY END of the article:

    Quote
Lockett, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery for a 1999 crime spree with two co-defendants. He was found to have shot teen-ager Stephanie Nieman and buried her alive in a shallow grave where she eventually died.

Warner, 46, was convicted for the 1997 first-degree rape and murder of 11-month-old Adrianna Waller, who was the daughter of his then-girlfriend, Shonda Waller.

This was a very twisted and sick individual, and society has a right to protect itself.

Anyone who is capable of raping a baby and/or burying a person alive is a psychopath beyond human help.

  • I find it very strange that when innocent people (even children now, horror of horrors) are euthanized via lethal injection in places like the Netherlands, it is considered "humane," yet when the exact same procedure is used to execute a murderer, it is considered cruel or even torture.

  • I vote for firing squad.  It is fairly low-tech, quick, inexpensive, and works first time, every time.  How did we ever get to the point of putting so much though and effort into executions?

So, you would rather he didn't repent?  Really?
