    We all know the politicians in Washington, whatever they call themselves, are not Catholic.

    You have to believe and practice the Catholic Faith to be a real Catholic.

    This is not the "true Scotsman" fallacy either. There is an objective standard. Just because the modern Church itself is apostate, and doesn't enforce anything, doesn't change the fact that all these pseudo-Catholics would be OFFICIALLY non-practicing ex-Catholics if the Church ever went back to Tradition at all.
