    • I've come the conclusion that 80% of Trads are actually mentally ill, and this poster is an example of it.  

    For some reason in their overreaction to Modernist ... and it's always an overreaction to an error on the other side withtout being able to make a distinction between some of the truth that might be in the other side, that people swing to the opposite extreme and pitch out even what may be correct about the other side.

    Because R&R mack a mockery of the Church's Magisterium and authority, reducing it to meaningless lip service, SVs overreact to the other extreme (that no Catholic theologian between Vatican I and Vatican II ever held) that the Pope is infallible every time he passes wind.  Because another "side" migth have gotten one thing wrong, then it must be that everything they believe is wrong.

    • We had a nearly identical stupidity arise on the marijuana question, where you had to Puritanical intrinsically evil crowd ignoring every citation from every source ... and, without being able to refute the principles involved or explain why their position is correct ... just keep regurgitating the same thing over and over again.  Same thing here.  No ability to explain principles, make distinctions, or even define terms ... and of course zero citations from any Catholic authories backup up the principle.

    I don’t need to answer this, you’re obscuring my argument into a Vatican 2 style relativism. “Everything is dependent upon context”. Makeup is always wrong because it is always deceitful whether that is your intent behind it or not.

    So far the main objections have been:
    1. My acne is bad so people don’t like to look at me if I am without makeup.

    2. I’m getting old and I don’t like it so I’m allowed to wear makeup.

    3. A little bit of makeup isn’t deceptive because it is the same as grooming.

    It looks like I’ve struck a nerve. I don’t need to appeal to authority (I already have but all you said is “context is important”). You haven’t proved how intent changes the effect or makeup from altering your appearance, therefore making it deceptive.

    If I paint my car with the intent to please others, how does it change the fact that I have painted the car from its original colour?

Unmarried women are not allowed to desire to invite lust in the hearts of others (obviously, I think) but that adornment for other reasons, although possibly sinful, is not necessarily so. 

    Betting OP is between the ages of 17-25, single male, converted or reverted within the last year. That's the profile for people who presume to lecture others on this know and of stuff.

    • This absolute extreme "all makeup is EVIL in any case" nonsense is funny to read but absurd. Clearly there is no such universally accepted statement among the Saints that it is by its very nature evil and such a absolutist mindset on makeup doesn't historically hold up either. Its use CAN BE evil and often is as oh so many things are, yes, of course, but to go to this extreme is not healthy.
