Title: Looking for Guide to Confession online docuмent.
Post by: Jehanne on September 18, 2009, 12:24:13 PM
Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a good, comprehensive guide to Making a Good Confession, preferably an online copy.  Everything that I have found is pretty shallow.  The Prayers of Contrition do not mention "loss of heaven, fear of hell," just the "so sad (too bad) having offended you God, blah, blah, blah"-type stuff.  Comprehensive list of mortal sins is a must!!

Links appreciated!

Blessings,

Don

Looking at these docuмents, I would, if I died today, go to Hell.  It's depressing.  Problem is that I have this conservative (I hope) Norvus Ordo priest whom I confess to (behind the screen, of course) who is impatient with me, and I find it difficult to go through all the commandments, precepts of the Church, etc.  And, I do not know what he believes, so I feel kind of awkward about it.  I try to hurry, be specific, but it is difficult.  He will sort of "cut me off," and even though he has never met me face to face, I think that he "knows" me when I come into the confessional, even though I only confess every two weeks to a month.  No traditional priests are in my area.

You cannot go to heretics and schismatics for the sacraments.  That in itself is mortally sinful.

  Is idleness sinful???
What about over-excessive love for your family?

I am not about to go into a confessional and say that to the priest, "Hey, dude, you are a heretic!"  It's the best that I can do.  With 3 disabled children, it is difficult to impossible to go to Mass, ever, but I can at least go to Confession.  May the One and Triune God have mercy on my soul, I suppose.

Would you admonish him if you believed it were true?  Or would you pass it over in silence and confess to him anyway?

Here is a little something I put together for myself and for (hopefully) others, and I gladly share it, but know this Don:

You are outside the Church, and you cannot please God until you abjure your heresies and schism, therefore I am not posting this for you, but for those who may be lurking on this forum who are actually Catholic.

If you wish to respond to the above statement, then please start a thread in the Crisis section.

Just curious, why do you think that I am a heretic?  If you are going to accuse someone of heresy, then you should at least state why you feel that way.  I think that Father Feeney had a similar complaint, did he not?

I am there for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  As long as the Sacrament is valid and fruitful, that's why I am there.
