On a personal side, my dh has had a commute of 45-90 minutes most of our married life. For the first few weeks he had a 10 minute walk as we lived in a city. Then a 25 minute commute by car and then it got longer from there. About 4 years of a 90 minute commute. That was toughest as all our children were really young. For the last 10 years it has been about 45 minutes and it is what we are used to. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if he came home for lunch like my friend's husband does. It just isn't what we are used to. Same way, our late dinner boggles most guests. We typically eat at 8 give or take 30 minutes so we eat as a family.
