  • A lot of traditional Catholics are in a situation like me, with no traditional Catholic priest nearby.  How do you cope?  When death comes, how do you receive the Last Sacraments?  Where do you get buried?  Any Mass of Christian Burial in the Tridentine Rite?  How about confession?  Marriage of your children?

This is an open-ended thread, so, please, if you do not have access to a traditional chapel and/or priest, your thoughts are most welcome.

And, please, do not tell us that we need to move!  For some of us, that is simply impossible.

  •   What did the first Christians do in 300 years of persecution? What did those in Japan and such like Countries do?
How are Catholics in China, The Middle East and Darfur coping with it?
      Do as they did.

  • At least once a year is it possible to travel to a traditional priest for the sacraments?

Get a pardon crucifix and kiss it daily.  This is a source of restoring your soul to grace, as long as you promise you will get to confession when possible.

I remember Fr. Denis would say, "I don't care if they toss me in the ditch, as long as I die in Sanctifying grace"

    google "Pardon Crucifix"
    Please pray for my soul.

  • How would I go about contacting a traditional priest?  Is this something that the SSPX would be willing to do?  As I posted in another thread, I was confirmed in the NO rite, but would like to be conditionally confirmed in the traditional rite.  Do you have any names of traditional priests in the Midwest?

  • Jehanne, don't you have an SSPX Mass location about an hour from you?

    WATERLOO
    St. Philomena Mission
    641-435-2506
    Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center
205 W. 4th Street (corner of 4th and Commercial Street)
    2nd & 4th Sunday 10:30am

I second what Myrna said ... set a timeframe for how often you can manage to get to the nearest location and then do so. If it's 2 hours, maybe once/twice a month; 3 hours, maybe quarterly; 5 hours, annually. Whatever you can do, set a date so that it's not just something you'll do "someday".

The Institute of Christ the King has a strong presence in the midwest. They're indult, but not a bad option if it's all you have and you're not completely against such a thing.

  • You do not need a priest for Baptism or Matrimony.  Pray the Rosary and carry on, knowing that God knows your situation and will give you all the graces you need, with or without His Sacraments.

We used to go to that SSPX Mass, but we can no longer.  It's just too far away and we cannot afford the gas, and it is doubtful that our car could safely make the journey.  As it is, we rarely leave the town we live in.

That is, of course, true.  I baptized my last two children; #3 was baptized by a SSPX priest; #1 & #2 by a NO priest.

  •   So true.
The greatest honor you can possibly have in heaven is martyrdom.
If you look you will see that number of martyrs is very high among those who are deprived of Mass by force.
About the advice to move: How can such a big number move? What will happen if everybody thinks like this? Can a small Country like France contain all of us, if we were going to empty Asia and africa??????
It is exactly what those dictators want. To get rid of us so that they can be sure no one snatchs their followers from their hands by preaching or edifying.
