Title: Live Perpetual Adoration on YouTube
Post by: Carissima on February 20, 2019, 10:05:33 AM
Is Jesus in the Eucharist reaching out to Catholics in the modern world today through technology?

Several channels on YouTube have been streaming live perpetual Adoration.
One channel has an older streamed video logged in at over 10,000 hours with close to 2 million views! This is the current one streaming now..

Carissima,

Do you know the consecration background of these Eucharists?

In our town, we have something similar, but they are from Novus ordo missae consecrations.

If we can validate a webcam Adoration site that is from a valid Tridentine Mass consecration, then it is something of great value... especially in these times.

Thanks for your post.

I seriously doubt it... if it were true, I'd be able to fulfill my Sunday obligation by watching a televised  (real time) Mass, confess my sins over the telephone etc. The Real Presence is not present in a reproduced image through the telescreen.
Also, the Church doesn't allow for electronic reproduction of music to be used in Her liturgy.
I think this throws technology out on it's ear!

I will try to answer the objections here.

I see it all much differently.
There are many isolated souls in this world lonely for companionship. What could be better than to spend more time with our Lord?

After accomplishing the duties of the day, and instead of browsing funny cat videos on YouTube, one could check-in for prayer, and/or meditation. Does Jesus not acknowledge the soul that pauses for Him? Or worse yet, would He chastise them and say, ‘Silly person, I am not there, that is only an unconsecrated wafer!’?
No I don’t believe so.

It makes a difference seeing the White Host in the gold Monstrance on the altar, with the flickering flames of the burning candles warm and alive.
It is much different than only reflecting internally or this would be the only way to communicate.

Seeing Live Adoration also reminds us how many churches and chapels have Him sitting there lonely and longing for souls to visit Him. He has been called The Prisoner of Love.

When I was a teenager, we had Perpetual Adoration local to us, and as a family we used to make frequent visits. Where I live now there are no chapels or churches that have it. I’d be there if I could. God knows this, so I believe He offers Himself this way to those who want it.

It’s an interesting idea; its great for a meditation, but it’s not real adoration.  I think God can bestow graces for the intention behind the idea but it’s still not the same as being at Church.

Agreed. It is definitely not the same as being there in person.
People FaceTime and Skype with their loved ones all the time. I see it as similar to that.

We should get use to it.

Independent TLM chapels are being taken-over by the neo-SSPX or closed down, increasingly.

Once their gone it is very rare they come back.

Besides, Our Lady warned we will eventually lose the Mass and only have her Heart and the Holy Rosary to cling to.

To be able to remotely view the Holy Eucharist at that point, would be consoling for many.

Bravo.

People will look for anything to rationalize their addiction to their stupid mobile phones.

Steve Jobs, the patron saint of smartphones would not agree.

You've got that right.  I've heard every excuse in the book for that and for being on Facebook and Twitter.

Anyone with common sense recognizes it is not the same as being in the REAL PRESENCE of Our Lord! However, I see nothing wrong with putting this up on a device while praying and meditating.  It does not really matter if it is “just a picture,” however, I agree it would be better to know Our Lord is truly present SOMEWHERE, even though one cannot adore Him in person.
