  •   It is the mindset of many parents today that they must give freedom to teenages and young adults lest they rebel. So, some parents even allow impurity to be present at their homes saying:" if he (she) can't do it here, he will search for it in wrong places." and:" if we insist on virtues, they will hate them." "if we keep them from sinful occasions, they will feel greater love for the forbidden."
The result is adolescents who discuss everything openly, talk dirty, ask questions about private lives of parents, all at home and in family gatherings. Fathers who in order to gain confidance of their sons, accompany them to mixed parties, dress like a teenage and do their best to appear as one of them. Consultors are in favor of such actions because according to them, if you prevent a youth from sin, he will do it in secret where you can't have supervision.
It is satanic IMO. Sometimes in the houses of relatives a teenage says a dirty joke while young children are present. I dare not protest because I already know how they will react.
      Any comment?

  • What I find a mystery, is several children growing up in the same household, brothers/sister.  One becomes a good and holy religious, while the other falls away from the Faith, and leads a life of misery.    I have seen this!

    Please pray for my soul.

  •   It may be because of different temperaments, though free will cannot be denied.

My mother's solution is not only to pray and sacrifice for her children but also to pray for the grace to accept grace. That's something we forget about. We pray for graces but then forget that we need the grace to accept and conform to them as well. That makes a big difference in how two or more people can be brought up in the same way yet turn out so differently with regards to the Faith.

  • I agree about prayer, and I will confess after I discovered that we were living in the great, great apostacy, I started praying for my grandchildren even before they were conceived, I was so afraid for them.
    Please pray for my soul.

  •   Well, in this great apostacy, you are supposed to listen without passing judgement, allow p** to be watched freely at your home and laugh at silly jokes of those around you lest by resisting evil you cause attraction for sin.

  • Well in my family, what you posted is not a problem, not that my family is perfect.  At least those of us that are not Catholic do respect the Catholics and do not tell such jokes or other such things as you suggest.

If this is a problem with your family, I think if I were you I would just leave their company.  Is that possible?

    Please pray for my soul.

  •    Not that much. We are modest compared to many. But I can't stop feeling bad about it. Many parents think like this. They are told that objection to sin, makes kids hate and avoid them. So to gain their trust, they try to be tolerant of their sins.

  • Growing up with a strict mother, it wasn't the same with us. My mother believes that rearing up the way she knows it is best for the children.

Thank God, my siblings and I aren't lax Catholics! Hope and pray we'd always stay the same!
