Lenten and Advent Embertides

    • What should the penance be during the Lenten and Advent Embertides since fasting and abstinence are already being practiced during those times? I always get to these Ember Days during these seasons and I try to pray more or maybe do almsgiving or some other penitential act, but I never really give it enough thought beforehand and those days end up rolling into the other days of prayer/fasting of Lent or Advent. 

    Thank you for any recommendations.

    • Perhaps a stricter fast. No oils or animal products, including no fish. Maybe just eat bread.
