I have told them, since so many of them are close to college age, they will have trouble in college trying to get enough information down in their Blue Books at finals time.

Most college exams, including essay exams, are taken on a computer these days.  A college-aged cousin of mind has never even heard of a blue book.

Neither have I! What is a blue book?

Small composition size paper stapled "book" in which students answer essay questions In humanities subjects. Used very recently. You must purchase these near campus and bring them to your final exam's.

And what is their purpose or usefulness? I am none the wiser for your description.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Again, their purpose is for the writing of essay final exams in subjects generally requiring those, such as English, foreign languages, history, anthropology, etc.   It's been the traditional method of examination in the humanities and social sciences at many institutions of higher learning.  (I didn't invent the idea, just reporting on it.)

More recently, these books have been green -- also noted in the wiki article.  I've seen those "environmentally friendly" green books very recently, within the last year my students had them.

  • Darn.  Sorry for distorting the page.  I hate it when people do that.

Didn't realize that my url wouldn't be automatically reformatted to fit.

  • Great chart for homeschooling moms and penmanship teachers:

Cursive writing must be preserved at all costs.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Yes.  What Cantarella posted is Spencerian script, which students once routinely learned in this country and elsewhere.
