  • Yes - but only thanks to the small collection of church supplies we presently have. Normally, we wouldn't have one.

  • I'm assuming the floor doesn't count?
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • I am remodeling my home office to include a small altar/prayer corner and will include one as soon as I purchase it. I am undecided between a small cushioned kneeler and a larger prie-Dieux; I am sure the cost will be the determining factor.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

  • The space between the foot of my bed and the closet doesn't count, either?  No room for any more furniture in a NYC studio!
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • No, I kneel on the floor/ground (depending on whether I am inside or out), except at Holy Mass.  I've not found the kneelers there to be of particular benefit.

I know!  It'll be awhile yet, though!  :laugh1:

  • One can always go to a hardware or garden store and purchase a small foam-cushioned kneeler.

Of course, one can always also offer up the struggle, pain and effort of getting on and off one's knees to Jesus, who certainly suffered for us. What joy to unite even the tiniest bit of our earthly pains and sufferings with His holy Passion!

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

It's not just the "comfort for the knees" that the kneeler offers. Some people can't get back up unless they have something to push off of.

No, I'm not speaking about myself personally, but my whole worldview doesn't stop at the end of my nose :)

Personally, I don't criticize the use of kneelers at all.

Exactly.  Not everybody can leap up with ease after a few minutes or even far longer on their knees.

  • I've got a simple kneeler now, that I use when praying the Rosary, but one of my construction projects in the near future is for a prie-dieu with a book rest.

  • Do most of you kneel when you say your prayers? The only times I've kneeled have been outside of the abortion clinic and that was because others were and they gave me a pad.

  • Are you a Uniate Catholic? I seem to recall the Russian schismatics pray standing up. Then again, the scandalous de-Latinisation in the Uniate Churches has stripped them of their devotions and rites and imposed Schismatic ritual, devotions and theology over Roman ones for the most part.* Kneeling may well have been a casualty. Very fitting with Balamand.

    * If any Ruthenians, Ukrainians et al want to bash it out with me, that's for another thread. The only Uniate chap I have seen on the forum has St. Josaphat Kuntsevych  as his avatar so I doubt he will disagree with me.

  • I'm a Latin Rite Catholic but I didn't know you were supposed to kneel outside of Mass. I don't think I've ever made the connection between kneeling and prayer there, I kneel when others do or for Communion.
