FIONNAN SHEAHAN, MICHAEL BRENNAN AND FIACH KELLY – 13 JUNE 2013

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has forcefully sought to separate the roles of church and State by delivering a rebuke to the Catholic hierarchy in the abortion debate and declaring he was "not a Catholic Taoiseach".

The Taoiseach's move to dismiss the criticism of the Catholic Church and pro-life campaigners comes as the Coalition finally published the text of the landmark abortion legislation at 12.30 am this morning.

A new opinion poll shows the Government has the support of three out of four voters on the legislation to provide for the X Case. An even larger majority of voters actually want wider access to abortion, particularly in cases of foetal abnormalities and rape or abuse.

The 18-page bill has not changed substantially from the earlier draft but the wording does:

    * List the 24 hospitals where abortions can take place.

    * Alter which psychiatrists will be involved in assessments of suicidal pregnant women.

    * Narrow the definition of the criminal offence of carrying out an illegal abortion.

CLODAGH SHEEHY AND CAROLINE CRAWFORD – 13 JUNE 2013 02:30 PM

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny got support from politicians across all parties when he declared in the Dail he was "a Taoiseach who happens to be a Catholic, but not a Catholic Taoiseach".

The support was in marked contrast to the deluge of up to 50 abusive calls a day and hundreds of graphic images of dead babies being directed at him by his Mayo constituents.

Mr Kenny's remarks to the Dail were in response to criticism from the Catholic bishops about his abortion Bill.

His declaration drew applause from Government backbenchers, but also from Sinn Fein TDs who support the abortion legislation.

He said: "A Taoiseach for all of the people, that's my job. I am proud to lead the Government in governing for all our people, irrespective of the sector of society that they come from."

    Once again, Mr Kenny

took his inspiration from an American president.

His comment echoed President John F Kennedy's famous 1960 address to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association.

The American presidential hopeful (inset), as he was at the time, declared: "I am not the Catholic candidate for president. I am the Democratic Party candidate for president who also happens to be a Catholic."

The Cabinet met yesterday to finalise the Bill, which was due to be published last night.

Mr Kenny said: "I'm now being branded as a murderer, that I'm going to have on my soul the death of 20 million babies."

He stressed again that there would be no free vote for members of the Government parties, that the abortion legislation would provide legal clarity and was about "saving lives".

[/quote]Abortion bill shows Kenny doesn't give a damn for the evidence

    13 June 2013
The Life Institute has said that the publication of a Bill permitting abortion on ѕυιcιdє grounds shows that the government "doesn't give a damn for the evidence" and is "blinded by arrogance and ideology" on the issue.

"An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, has chosen to completely ignore the medical evidence presented at two Oireachtas Committee hearings on abortion," said Niamh Uí Bhriain of the Life Institute.

"He is simply disregarding the evidence of Obstetricians who say they have serious moral and ethical concerns with ending the life of an unborn baby where a mother says she is suicidal," she pointed out.

"And he is ignoring the evidence of our leading psychiatrists who not only say that abortion does not treat suicidality, but have told the government that this Bill would help to normalise ѕυιcιdє."

The actions of the government were "feckless, irresponsible and cold-hearted", she added, since the Bill allowed for abortion without time limits.

"Minister James Reilly is anxious to downplay the absence of time limits, but his only alternative is to have doctors prematurely deliver a physically healthy baby, being born to a physically healthy mother. That baby will then suffer all the possible consequences of prematurity including brain damage, blindness, and even death. This is horrific," said the Life Institute spokeswoman.

Ms Ui Bhriain said that the government was "blinded by arrogance and ideology".

She also described the results of Irish Times poll as seriously skewed since the question was framed to be "misleading and to prompt a required response."

"The poll asked if people supported abortion to save the life of a mother, but clearly that's a leading question, since experts tell us that abortion is never medically necessary," she said.

On another thread I mentioned a Novus Ordo Bishop officiating at an event tomorrow and Enda Kenny will be there. I have no idea if that particular Bishop is in the Masonic Lodge but evidence suggests several Irish Bishops are in the Masonic Lodge.

It was stated before there is a tunnel under the street from the Irish parliament to the Lodge in Dublin.

A solicitor stated before that the Bishops of Ireland were bought out by a previous government with regard the sex abuse cases.

A time to uphold the right to life: Statement by the Catholic Bishops of Ireland

A time to uphold the right to life: Statement by the Catholic Bishops of Ireland

On the second day of the June General Meeting of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Maynooth, the following statement has been issued:

    A time to reflect

On Saturday last, tens of thousands of women, men and children gathered in Dublin to express their support for the equal right to life of mothers and their unborn children.

We are at a defining moment for our country.

The Gospel of life is at the heart of the message of Jesus.  He came that we may have life and have it to the full (Jn 10:10).  The Gospel challenges us to work for a world in which the dignity and beauty of every human life are respected.

A time to uphold the right to life

The right to life is the most fundamental of all rights; it is the foundation of all other rights.  No individual has the right to destroy life and no State has the right to undermine the right to life.

Yet the Irish Government is proposing abortion legislation that will fundamentally change the culture of medical practice in Ireland.  For the first time legislation will be enacted permitting the deliberate and intentional killing of an unborn child. This represents a radical change. Every citizen, not just people of faith, should be deeply concerned.

We value the skill and efforts of our doctors, nurses and other care professionals who have helped to earn Ireland’s place as one of the safest countries in the world for mothers and their babies during pregnancy.

Catholic Church teaching is clear: where a seriously ill pregnant woman needs medical treatment which may put the life of her baby at risk, such treatments are ethically permissible provided every effort is made to save both the mother and her baby.

This is different from abortion, which is the direct and intentional taking of the innocent life of the unborn.  No matter what legislation is passed in any country, abortion is, and always will be, gravely wrong.

A time for clarity and truth

The Government is under no obligation to legislate for the X case.  People are being misled. We challenge repeated statements that this legislation is about saving lives and involves no change to the law or practice on abortion. Legalising the direct and intentional destruction of the life of an unborn baby can never be described as ‘life-saving’ or ‘pro-life’.

Contrary to clear psychiatric evidence, this legislation proposes abortion as an appropriate response to women with suicidal feelings during pregnancy.  It is even possible to envisage as a result of this legislation the deliberate destruction of a child, who could otherwise be saved, right up to and including the moment of birth.

Furthermore, we challenge assurances that the proposed legislation will provide limited access to abortion.  As published to date, the legislation will allow for a very wide margin of subjective professional assessment by which the deliberate destruction of an unborn baby can be legally justified. As we have learned from other countries, such legislation opens the door to ever wider availability of abortion.

We remain convinced that enhanced medical guidelines, which do not envisage the direct and intentional killing of the unborn, could provide the necessary clarity as well as a morally, legally and medically acceptable way forward.  While good health can normally be restored, life, once taken, can never, never be restored.

A time for freedom of conscience

Freedom of conscience is a fundamental human right.  A State that truly cherishes freedom will respect the conscience of its citizens, including its public representatives, on such an important human value as the right to life.

It is ethically unacceptable to expect doctors, nurses and others who have conscientious objections to nominate others to take their place.  Neither should any institution with a pro-life ethos be forced to provide abortion services.

A time to decide: a time to act; a time to pray

We call on citizens to exercise their right to make their views known respectfully to our public representatives and to leave them in no doubt about where they stand on this issue.

We ask our public representatives to uphold the equal and inviolable right to life of all human beings, even if this means standing above other pressures and party loyalties.

We also invite our priests and people to continue to pray the Choose Life prayer at Mass and in the home that the dignity and value of all human life will continue to be upheld in this country.

Some mothers today are facing difficult or crisis pregnancies. Other people who have had, or who have assisted with abortions, may be re-living what happened in the past.  They deserve to receive all the love, support and professional care that they need.

As Bishops we will join this weekend in prayerful solidarity with millions of Catholics all over the world in the Year of Faith celebration of Blessed John Paul II’s Encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life).

Every human life is precious, every human life is beautiful, every human life is sacred. Choose life!

No surprise, John Grace.  Only in the light of eternity will we be able to fully comprehend the utter and complete takeover of our Holy Church by these satanists who shun the light, and live in tunnels.
God bless  you for your relentless work.  (really enjoy your blog)

On a side note, my younger brother is on a journey back from protestanism to Catholicism.  He's been spending a lot of time in Ireland.  He sent me this link this morning, from the Irish Times:

Regarding that article Archbishop Martin's name has come up as being a possible Freemason. Also Bishop John Magee. It is alleged.

I actually favour the Vatican embassy in Dublin remaining closed. I don't know anything about Archbishop Charles Brown.

There is no doubt this abortion legislation has woken people up.

This article on the MacDermots and Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ is food for thought: http://www.macdermotroe.com/FɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყMacDermots.html

"Until the early 19th century, Catholics were strongly represented in Irish freemason lodges. Indeed, the 18th century enlightenment ideals embraced by freemasons were very conducive to membership by both Catholics and Protestants. Once inside the fraternity, sectarian differences were set aside in deference to principles of freedom and universal brotherhood. It was not until 1826 when the Irish bishops started to enforce the papal ban on Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ that Catholics left the organization."
