A seemingly extraordinary quote attributed to Judge Barrett, a Roman Catholic and on President Trump's short list for SCOTUS was taken from a talk she gave to Notre Dame graduates in 2006: "(A) legal career is but a means to an end . . . and that end is building the Kingdom of God… If you can keep in mind that your fundamental purpose in life is not to be a lawyer, but to know, love and serve God, you truly will be a different kind of lawyer.” In truth the quote is not extraordinary, but the media makes like it is. In truth it merely states with a few added words a basic truth of our Catholic Faith, but in a world of lies, deceptions of all kinds and general disorientation, it may seem extraordinary.
God bless the judge for having said this. People -- including if not perhaps especially ND grads need to be reminded of it (or even made aware of it for the first time).
