It seems my grandparents issued an ultimatum...
« on: December 07, 2013, 09:14:48 AM »
This clearly shows the mindset of your usual Protestant, Republican, and "conservative" voter these days.

Anyway my grandparents gave me the ultimatum (after I told them I refuse to spend my hard-earned money at Big Business) of moving to another state with them or staying behind and only keeping in occasional contact with them (I live 5 minutes away from them right now).

Anyone who has read my posts on this site knows I am about as right-wing as they come and a part of the deal for being close to them was I must shed my "communist, progressive, liberal, socialist, sexist, racist, nαzι, fascist, anti-Semetic, anti-capitalist and wierdo views and said I was an Obama lover (How these all can be grouped together in the same paragraph is something that is beyond me)." I preceeded to tell them that if they were really on the Right and as "conservative" as they say they are (meaning the GOP's view of being "conservative") they would agree with my views.

This really shows the asinine world of your basic Republican, Southern, and Calvinist voter who thinks that all the views of the world that don't agree with them must be liberal and communist. Needless to say I quickly told them that I would stay right here where I was for their mislabelled terms and needless hypocrisy. With views like this, these days how can a Catholic ever change any nation for the better really considering that those on the Right would label him with his historic enemies of liberals and communists?

Is there any reason why you need to live with your grandparents?

If not, let them move. Don't let them take the TLM from you.

I don't live with them. I live close to them however. They were moving out of state and were asking me if I wanted to go with them.

How did the ultimatum come about?

Trad Guy, I gave up reading your posts long ago, but read this one.
Since you posted & almost seemed like you were asking for it  - here goes:

Your grandparents have been on this earth much longer than you have & have experienced more than you so if I were you I'd take a good long look at myself & them.  They must think a lot of you & love you to invite you to move with them, for starters.  Why are they moving & how far away are they moving?  Why are you calling it an ultimatum as if they're kicking you out of their lives?

Before we go any further, I got the impression from you when you first started here that you were a young, know-it-all guy that didn't REALLY know it all.  I would think long & hard about this "ultimatum".  It looks more like an invitation to me. There must be a good reason why older people would up & move to another state.  What is that reason?  Have you bothered to ask them?

After you've answered all these questions, then make up your mind whether you want to stay or to accept their gracious invitation to move with them.  Maybe, just maybe, this move will be all for the best - for all of you.
