Is Trick Or Treat Dangerous?
« on: October 31, 2022, 12:48:24 PM »
Tonight is trick or treat in my city. I have an 8 year old daughter who I have always taken trick or treating. She dresses up as a saint every year. After doing some research I'm now concerned. I have heard priests and a variety of Christians say that it's not okay to take your children trick or treating as a Christian. A former Satanist said witches can cast spells or put curses on the candy they hand out and you can become cursed by eating it. An eastern priest actually compared it to communion of satin. I have heard excorcists speak of food with curses put on it. What should I do? Should we stay home? Should we collect the candy and just not eat it? My daughter would be very sad if we didn't go but I dont want to put her in danger. Thanks.

People have been trick-or-treating for decades, even long before Vatican II, including Catholics. There is no need to worry about it.

You could request a blessing of the treats by a priest ( a real one of course, not the dubious variety) The Rosary and the prayer to St Michael are great spiritual weapons that should be prayed with extra fervour this evening. For physical dangers, it depends on where you live. Concealed carry I would recommend if it is legal to do so. I would carry a small bottle of holy water as well.

Be aware of where you go trick and treat. One of the large families I know only go a very short distance from where they live. The kids manage to bring in a decent haul. I have been making candy treat bags for them since I have known them.I have added older kids, well older teenagers, from a Polish family that started attending our chapel.

True it's been going on for decades but never before in memory have we had so many witches, wiccans and satanists so openly practicing in our midst.

In my neighbourhood was a witch and when her house was sold one bedroom must have been her "prayer"? room and there was a wall to wall pentagram painted on the floor.  The SSPX  was brought in to bless/exorcise  the house and the floor was professionally sanded before the new owners moved in.

Although my grandchildren are too old for trick or treat I think if they were younger I'd be finding an alternative for tonite;  church saints party, school sponsored party or get a number of parents to arrange a private  house party or drive them around to family and friends and neighbours you know.

P.S.  And don't forget the wackos who might lace the treats with drugs.

Yes, I don't think there's much to worry about.  For all the urban legends about poison or "razor blades" in candy, I've never in my life seen an incident of that reported.  With regard to witches cursing candy, I don't believe they can hurt a Catholic (St. Paul said it's OK to eat food sacrificed to idols).  If there are witches in your neighborhood, they can find all kinds of ways to hurl curses at you.
