  • There was an insert in the Church bulletin from the pope

and it was uplifting and no heresy so I wonder if he is taking to heart what people are talking about concerning that one docuмent and etc.. I hope so

I read somewhere something about no pope can be a heretic but you know... well, supposedly when the pope is elected, all heresies he believed in up to then were no longer believed

    huh?

that sounds like magic or something. Yes, Catholicism is mystical and supernatural but give me a break. Heresy is a serious thing.  and it doesn't disappear until the person believing it makes it disappear. We all have free will, don't become a robot just bc got elected pope...

  • if you seriously believe a man so unaware of basic Catholic doctrines that his heresies could be considered material after decades as a Bishop and Archbishop could be elected Pope and make huge doctrinal changes, COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THEIR HERETICAL NATURE, then you're the one who believes in magic.

"Pope" Francis is clearly a formal heretic, and ergo not a valid Pope.

    people do repent
I know its hard to believe
    but it's true
Peter failed Jesus but he repented... true, it wasn't bc of heresy but whatever... In any case, what the pope said was good
eh said we should do something that is hard to do (for Lent) and etc...

If a Pope believes in formal heresy, he is automatically no longer the Pope.

Hey! That's brilliant. Maybe he'll become Catholic.

  • I think that too many times the Pope is quoted out of context by too many people who should know better.

  • Well, even a heretic has SOME truth about him, no?  But it only takes one heresy to make one a heretic.

That was how JP2 and B16 fooled so many people.  They were capable of speaking in very orthodox and pious ways.  They often appeared devout when offering Mass.  And yet ...

I can't believe that anyone is still using this excuse.

  • I can't believe the title of this. If one thing's clear, it's that heretics aren't in the Church. I just don't understand those who think the Catholic Church could have a heretic as its head and center of unity. This whole false belief, and ridiculous thread title, is an oxymoron.
