  • I'll have to confess ignorance about whatever holiday is on Monday.

First, a towing company that missed a Friday pickup by a couple hours, said "We're looking at Tuesday or Wednesday..." as if Monday didn't exist. He almost fit me in on Friday, then it somehow jumped to Tuesday in just an hour or two.

Then the news that Trump is going to be arrested on Tuesday.

    What happened to Monday?
    Want to say "thank you"?

They mistakenly think the feast of St Joseph is a Holy Day of Obligation and do not want to offend your Catholic sensibilities! (not sure about Trump???)

Where do YOU live, where you think it normal for a towing company to know about Holy Days of Obligation? You must live in St. Mary's, KS. ;)

For those of us living outside that small Trad mecca, what you suggest is about as crazy as a man putting on a pair of wings and taking flight.

  • There are some companies and practices that are active even on weekends that'll take odd days off.  Perhaps the guys who were available to take make the tow work Saturdays or even Sundays, and so they take Mondays off as compensation.  There are some offices that work Saturdays and do a lot of business on Saturdays (because people work during the week) that are closed on Mondays:  our dentist, various hair salons, etc.  Alternatively, they already had their appointments booked up for Monday, or else they were booked on Saturday (probably a busy day for them), and so these guys regularly took Mondays off, but worked Saturdays and were already booked.  Could be anything, but there's no holiday on Monday ... unless you've got some special Tejas thing going on down there, like a March-teenth. :laugh1: (transferred to Monday due to the 18th/19th being weekend days).

That's the world we have to look forward to after the consecration of Russia. But even then, a tow truck sounds a bit like getting your ox out of the well. Hope yours gets out soon. Good luck!

  • People are lazy.  And people are going after conservatives any way they can.

Or maybe everyone still partying for St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
May God bless you and keep you

Doubt it.  Most likely a much more mundane explanation, like they're already booked for Monday or people take the day off in lieu of working on Saturday or Sunday.
