Is it okay for Catholics to join the US Armed Forces

  • I asked this question on an SSPX Discord server and there was a mod who responded that it was completely okay to join the military, that the Catholic Church has never called any war unjust, and that you can serve in those wars. He didn't say this outright, however. For example, he really nitpicked the fact that I started my question with "can" rather than "is it morally permissible to". All Catholics have free will, and so we CAN join the military. He used a strict interpretation of what I said (because I wasn't particularly precise) in order to refute my argument and open the doors very wide to involvement in war and military. He also never mentioned the fact that you will be surrounded by people who swear and make dirty jokes. I could sense that he was using sophistry to trap us in our words without anyone noticing, because he always liked to use charitable language and say the word "kindly" and "please" a lot. I believe he also defended the Vatican declaration criticizing the use of "co-Redemptrix" by specifying that they weren't literally against it, all the while being subtle and charitable.

I asked a question recently about whether it's true that you can get a dispensation for marrying your uncle or aunt according to the catechism "My Catholic Faith", and the answer so far has been yes, but we'll see to that later. Another man says their great great grandparents got a dispensation from Rome to marry their first cousin.

Although involvement in the military is not always a hard "no", it's obvious that in general it does not seem moral to willfully put yourself into an American foreign war or to go into the US Army.

Well, this is the SSPX Discord server for you. But I will admit that I should've been more precise with my words. I'm really only on this server nowadays to test and see what they actually think about all these weird things.

  • I don't see how joining the armed forces in this day and age is seeking first the kingdom of heaven. I think most people considering it is for financial reasons, and the risk to your soul in this day and age is just not worth the risk. It will only get more likely that the Church would judge a war unjust these days, once competent individuals occupy the offices of the Church to pass such judgement.
"Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect."
"Seek first the kingdom of Heaven..."
"Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment"

  • I agree with St. Giles.  My husband, retired Air Force in 1992. Those who were under him, were whine bags.  They work for an income and think of a 9 - 5 job.  And it is not just the US Forces who are like this.  but the troubles in the military is so bad.  75% of marriages go rotten. Now you have the vaccines and the alphabet people.

I myself was a WAC.  I was there to get in and out.  Marriage is a vow, and you can't do both.  I never thought to.  I needed to keep myself busy til my husband to be was ready for marriage, we were young.

I met lesbians, and witches you name it.  What a mess!  I enjoyed working on the job. I had very good and reasonable people.   Try finding any sacraments, no way.  The company you keep or are working around is a risk!

I behaved and yet there was adgitators on the Post, paid for, to make it look like a race riot, I did nothing, yet my name got on the CIA list, in1971.

USA is not a peace maker, and never was.  Stay out is my advise. It is not good for family.  I know many are looking for a stable job and gov't to take care of us.  It isn't worth it.

  • Nick Griffin, the British nationalist has written an interested article concerning this. He advises young men, not to join any independent paramilitary organisation but actually to train within the armed forces as a reservist.

That way you get military training. He then advises that should you be called up in a possible war, they way to avoid this would be a flagrantly right wing person, who they would never want in the army. He suggests for example, getting a "No more wars for the banks" tattooed on your arm.

    Anyway. Here's the article: https://nickgriffin544956.substack.com/p/civil-war-should-nationalists-join

  • 🤣 I love you guys and gals. Who wants to go fight the 3rd world war for the nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr bankster gangsters and a bunch of Jews it’s insanity! I have so many friends come back messed up from the gwot it’s disgusting! I was 15 when 9/11 happened. My first friend that came back blown up was in fallujah right at the peak of the fighting. He got lit up in the middle of the street by a .30 cal mounted machine gun. He came back with a halo around what was left of his leg I don’t ever think I saw him smile again and he developed a bad drinking habit. His best friend he went in with went awol. My second friend to come back messed up was a “weekend warrior” he was in the back of a transport vehicle when an rpg came through the back and stuck in his friends chest. It never went off.  The man who got hit squeezed the trigger on his rifle and hit the guy next to him and Chad took a bunch of shrapnel. He ended up getting hit again by an ied soon after and they finally sent him home with two Purple Hearts. By that time our region near Vermont was getting flooded with heroin and when he came back his whole family was on it and he became a heroin addict and died of meningitis. My roommate here in Knoxville was a Sgt on the ospreys and the marine corps sent him on his last tour knowing he had developed a brain tumor on his pituitary. He almost died as a result and they still kept him on tour because he was extremely good at his job. I can’t think of a half a dozen more horror stories from it and for what? Are we safer and more free since 9/11 or the opposite? Who benefited from it my poor friends who fought or the bankers, globalists, and Jews? Its insane! I’m lucky to be surrounded by all kinds of military veterans and none of them trust the government any more. My father was a marine in the early 80s and they fed him poison water on camp lejune and he’s dealing with all kinds of symptoms from it as he gets older. He would not let me join when I turned 18 and he went as far as cussing out two recruiters that knocked on my door. I never understood it back then but everything he said about George bush turned out to be true. Who is willing to go kill and die for the Epstein island crew? Get trained and protect your friends and family here at home!
