Is it good idea to talk with priest about mental problems
« on: May 29, 2020, 05:01:14 AM »
I have an question about talking with priest about mental problems because many times this goes under psyhiatricy section even if you asked them moustly answer whould be have you seen psyhican but there s something really wrong here because priest indeed can help its just that i am not shure how to explain lets say this

In psyhiatricy if you have problem they just give you medicine or watch over you for days etc
While priest will listen to your current problems like when you talk to psyhologist that s why i belive that its maybe better choice to talk about disorders mental problems with priest because they have the cure and that cure is conffesion in psyhiatricy many times doesnt aceept sin because

psyhiatricy today is based on atheistic wiev but there is christians but more moral relativistic its rare to see real chatolic psyhiatricy but we do have that to yet remember the snake on the ambulance cars this proves modernism new age religion there that s big danger in our society which teach anti christian values based on healthy body but not talking how pain is needed and cross to go trough life but want fast recovery to get better which is not christian way to live but enough for this my real question is again this

Question

Well since i have learning disablity and issues with prayer anxiety ocd ptsd etc do you think its actualy good idea to talk with priest about it i dont have to be ashamed or bad to talk in conffesion or just like that at end of mass because i belive that i asked about it to and that its good idea what you all think can priest as well help in such matters since my problem is actually spiritual anxiety is spiritual problem like depression traumatic event since childhood

Issues like when body is shaking around people fear of people obssesive tougsh flashback of the past have enyone go trough such matters and how do you handle it panic attack in church i whould like to know your opinion thank you

Sebo, I think it is good for you to speak with your priest. I hope you have such a priest who can help you. Yes, speak to your priest after Mass, but ask him to make a time where you can sit down quietly with him. I think it is not a good idea to talk immediately after Mass as he could have many people to greet and he may be fasting; so make an appointment so you won't be rushed.

When Jesus was on earth, he healed the sick and he appointed his disciples to heal the sick, and this is one of the works of the priest also.

Don't worry about the symbol of the snake on the ambulances. This is a symbol of healing and of life. St John's Gospel says in Chapter 3 [14]And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up: [15] That whosoever believeth in him, may not perish; but may have life everlasting.

Here is the story from the Book of Numbers, chapter 21
And the people (of Israel) began to be weary of their journey and labour: [5] And speaking against God and Moses, they said: Why didst thou bring us out of Egypt, to die in the wilderness? There is no bread, nor have we any waters: our soul now loatheth this very light food [6] Wherefore the Lord sent among the people fiery serpents, which bit them and killed many of them. [7] Upon which they came to Moses, and said: We have sinned, because we have spoken against the Lord and thee: pray that he may take away these serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. [8]And the Lord said to him: Make a brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: whosoever being struck shall look on it, shall live. [9] Moses therefore made a brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: which when they that were bitten looked upon, they were healed. [10] And the children of Israel setting forwards camped in Oboth.

So when you see that sign on an ambulance say to Jesus, I know you can make me well, if it is your holy will.

We are praying for you.

Yes a priest can help. He may also recommend that you see a psychiatrist, not all are bad and some are Catholic.

The crozier of many Eastern Catholic bishops are serpents because they are the symbol of medicine as well

I agree with you that s good idea i also tough of this that it isnt good to ask him while many people are there because i feel shy to talk around many people dont want to share something with others while people are there whu i dont know if you get me i mean? maybe its best to tell in conffesion about it then if he has time he can tell me when s best to talk that may be great idea
