  • ?I I understand the raunchy dancing they do on music videos to be sinful.

But I've seen a few quotes by st john vianney about dancing, he talked about confessing and he once stated.. but after confession that person went out dancing for 3 hours.

I use to think dancing was tame in those days.

So is all dancing a sin, even waltz/ballroom?

  • I read this book.  Read more carefully.  It was more than just dancing, but what it lead to.  St. John V. was up against people who worked in the fields on Sunday.  St. John V. had his work cut out for him to convince the people that they would have a great return on their crops, IF they would put their hearts to God.

I like square dancing.  So, dancing can be provocative and lead to more sin.

  • I maybe wrong but I  believe when the saints refer to dancing they mean the dance halls where boys and girls mingle, now a days secondary 1 girls in my city  are taught it's ok to attend dances where boys from another school host, the parents are clueless and thinkit's harmless, I'm looked as the crazy parent for forbidding this nonsense

  • In David McGowan's book Weird Scenes Inside Laurel Canyon, it is revealed that Rockefeller cousin Vito Paulekas is inventor of the GoGo dance!! The Whisky A GoGo on Sunset Blvd owes 1/2 of it's name to him even today...

  • I thought it was just the Protestants that taught that dancing was a sin.

  • .
Sometimes, when a penitent kept dancing anyway after the Cure d'Ars in Confession told him to stop, the next time he confessed the same sin, the Patron Saint of Parish Priests would refuse him absolution.

    Sometimes.
