We have to ask ourselves though --
If the index WERE still being used by the Church, what would be on it? I bet most movies and TV shows would be.
Things that were seemingly "innocent" at first glance actually had tons of anti-Catholic ideas hidden in them, and were thus considered dangerous by the Church. I'm sure ALL movies judged by Catholic standards would be more or less objectionable. They all have a liberal bent to them, among other errors.
So it seems that my "extremism" of getting rid of the TV and advocating a complete abstinence from movies and TV is actually the mind of the Church.
The same goes for books though -- Americans are accustomed to thinking they can read whatever they want. Not so, says the Church. Bad books (Da Vinci Code, anyone?) were forbidden to Catholics, because they are a danger to one's faith. Special permission had to be secured to be able to morally read a "bad book".
In Christ,
