  • Some of you know that I am the caretaker of my very elderly mother, who will be 99 at her next birthday.

I feel she is in the dying process now, her kidneys seems to be failing, she sleeps almost all the time, only wakes to eat a little, and falls back to sleep while even eating.

She prayed her rosary daily but has stopped the last few days, because she can't seem to stay awake.

She has on her scapular and has received the last rites several months ago.

Please pray that the devil will not assail her during what might be her last days.

I am very fearful.  She wants to die at home here with me, not in a hospital.
Therefore, I am worried about the end, if I can handle it.  I too will need some extra prayers.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Prayers for you so Our Lady and the angels will come to your aid and help you -  and will welcome your dear mother into her eternity when it's her turn.

  • Myrna,

My sincere prayers are with you in this difficult time. God in His Justice and Mercy will give you the grace to persevere in these agonizing moments. It sounds like you have already made sure your dear mother doesn't die an unprepared or unprovided death since she's wearing her scapular and had already access to the last sacrament. Let's pray to St. Joseph in these moments:

Prayer to St. Joseph for the Dying

    PRAYER FOR THE AGONIZING

O St. JOSEPH, protector of those in agony, take pity on those
who at this very moment when I pray to thee are engaged in
     their last combat.

O blessed Joseph, take pity on my soul too when the hour of
the final battle shall arrive for me. Then, O my holy patron, do
not abandon me, but grant me thine assistance; show that thou
art my good father, and obtain that my Divine Savior may receive
me with mercy into that abode where the elect enjoy a life
     that shall never end. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE SOULS IN THE AGONY OF DEATH

ETERNAL Father, by the love Thou bearest toward St. Joseph,
who was chosen by Thee from among all men to exercise Thy
divine fatherhood over the Thy Son made Man, have mercy on
us and upon all poor souls who are in their agony.

     Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .

ETERNAL Son of God, by the love Thou bearest toward
St. Joseph, who was Thy most faithful guardian upon earth,
have mercy on us and upon all poor souls who are in their agony.

     Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .

ETERNAL Spirit of God, by the love Thou bearest toward
St. Joseph, who guarded with such tender care most holy Mary,
Thy beloved spouse, have mercy on us and upon all poor souls who are in their agony.

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Myrna, I will remember you & your mother in my prayers.
She seems to be slipping away & God in His mercy will no doubt come for her while she sleeps.  So do not be afraid.  Take each day as it comes & never think about tomorrow.  Tough, I know, but you CAN do it if you put your mind to it.
Is there someone that can stay with you for a week or so?  Do you have any help?  You had hospice for your husband, do you have that for her now?

Now go put some music on:-)
"I will lead her into solitude and there I will speak to her heart.  Osee 2:14

  •  :pray:ing for your Mom's holy death to remove all your :scared2:
The hearing is the last sense to leave.  Keep praying quietly by her bedside even if she shows no awareness.  Call upon your guardian angels who are ever present in the room, hovering overhead and by your sides.
    Frances
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.
