A suggestion: Try substituting the "catholic" terminology for whatever is used by the particular type of Protestants with whom you are "testing" your Faith. POSSIBLY, you might cause one to convert to the True Religion. I think, however, you will soon come to the exact same place as you now stand. When a devout "born-again" Protestant hears "catholicy" sounding words, he shuts down and shuts you out. A FEW, however, might be given the grace of the Faith if they hear Truth in terms they can understand. Sadly, MOST will act as Pilate and reject TRUTH once He is known and standing in front of him. Why? Easy to answer! What would have happened to Pilate if he had refused to hand over Our Lord and publicly professed belief in Him before the crowd and the Sanhedran? The large majority reject Truth because it means they must die to themselves, figuratively if not literally. Most are unwilling to change their lives. Those who are willing cannot do so except by the grace of God. Our Lord says, "Many are called but few are chosen.". St. Paul says, "You are chosen by grace through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.". (Be careful. Protestants use this to claim 'sola fide.'). Read, if you haven't, Rome, Sweet Rome, also, vols. I and II of Surprised By Truth and Love in the Ruins.
Go ahead and test yourself, whether you be in the Faith, but by all means, try to bring converts back with you! Let charity for lost souls be your primary motivation.
I know..."Been there, done that."
~a very happy convert, Frances.
