  • Arabic immersion school coming to Houston.  link

Why wouldn't French or German schools do just as well?  What about Chinese or Russian?

English is the de facto "world language", schools should be focusing on teaching kids to speak and write it properly.

Or, maybe it's a plot  to infiltrate the Arab community and dilute their culture with western values.

Is anyone here from Houston?  How are the locals reacting to this development?

  • This is not limited to Arabic.  The Houston Independent School District has language programs like the one mentioned in this article for Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese (Mandarin), Urdu (Hindi) and Nepali.  Schools in the district also teaches courses on many other languages including French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Latin, and Russian.

I can't imagine any legitimate reason to object to an optional program that teaches the world's fifth most spoken language.

  • Cortez High School of Phoenix had in their books, that Mohammed was a true God. That was over 5 years ago.  The mother told me and took her daughter out.  I warned the mother to say nothing, just take her out.  No, she had to yak and yak for over 30 minutes with principal. Our Federal $ hard at work!

They Brophy High School, new order, had 30% muslim students in 1992.  Not there for conversion!

I also saw in the 99 cents store, core curriculum activity books for the Kindergardener to grade 2!  That was strange to see!

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Considering that Muslims are very clear in their belief the Mohammed was not God, but merely a prophet, I have a hard time believing this mother that you describe.

I vociferously object because it's not just teaching a "language program", it is a cultural IMMERSION program so that the kids can "identify" with Arab culture and  I strenuously object to American kids being brainwashed with some other cultural values, being taught that they are "global" citizens, they are not.  Globalism is a threat to the self-determination of nation states.

from the linked article:   “And so that doesn’t just mean language fluency or cultural fluency. It’s kind of how you look at the world and how you interact with the world.”

I have no problem with kids learning multiple languages, so long as that school is not also teaching them to be "global citizens" rather than citizens of their own country.  I believe this to be true regardless of where people live - Colombia or Canada; Belgium or Botswana, they are citizens of their own countries, not global citizens.
