Title: Illinois really has their act together!
Post by: Matthew on October 10, 2025, 03:44:01 PM
I just got a Jury Duty notice in my old hometown -- that I left in 2004!

Considering that Illinois increased the state income tax from 3% to 5% a few years after I left, you'd think they'd have enough income to be competent.

Maybe there are too many gov't employees with pot-addled brains to properly function. They legalized recreational pot use in Illinois.
Pot is not good for your brain. Even if you aren't allowed to come in to work "high", you still become a pothead and suffer brain damage from the "devil's lettuce".

(I logged in and updated my address. Obviously they can't make me serve since I don't live in my hometown anymore. But I had to share this insanity!)

It's definitely the weed. It has nothing to do with DEI or employing armies of bureaucrats with intelligence 3 standard deviations below the mean.

:laugh1::laugh2: All kinds of craziness exists in the court systems with finding jurors. Once my 93 year old mother was summonsed to jury duty, under her maiden name! I once received a jury summons for a county that I last lived in as a college student. (I’m now retired.) Last year my deceased father received a summons for jury duty and a form for renewal of his driver’s license!  In my present county there have been summonses sent to a D.A.’s infant daughter and to pets with human names. In both cases, the summons was stamped, “Must Appear.”  So the D.A. had his wife bring the baby and a woman was stopped at the door and told that cats, even in carriers, were not permitted!  “But officer, it clearly states he Must Appear!”
If this is the best they can do, it makes me doubt I’d get a fair trial if accused of a crime!
