These and these websites claim that the name Jesus wasn't derived from Hebrew.
Here's an example (http://kahalyahweh.net/Articles/Origin-Jesus.htm).
I know that the Iason claim was said by a Church Father claiming that the name sounded Greekish.
He also said that the name was in connection to healing (iatros?).
I need evidence against the Iason claim. Like, the name Jesus was a valid form among Hellenistic Jews. I also know that various transliterations existed for Yeshua. So I need evidence that the name Jesus existed before the Church, and wasn't a 1st century transliteration.
(One would be the Titulus Crucis.)

When the name as Jah makes a part of their (hebrew)personal names, it relates to the Messiah all down their history. Josue, the name of their leader after Moses, or Jesus, its Greek form, means in Hebrew "the God of mercy will save." After the Greek conquest, the name was translated into that language as Jesus, the name given Christ before He was conceived. And so the angel said......
