  • Here's a family that's taking "urban gardening" about as far as it can go --

    http://urbanhomestead.org/journal/

We're doing a lot of those things too, but nobody knows about us :)

It's funny to me that whenever someone else does things like "fewer showers", "no beauty products", etc. it's worthy of CNN.com. We just do it as part of our normal lifestyle, not to show off or make a statement.

Then again, someone has to be an example for all the wasteful people out there. My wife and I are too shy to put ourselves in the spotlight.

I should also point out ("rant" if you will) -- no central heat/AC is no big feat if you live in California. It's 75 degrees there in the summer, maybe 65 degrees in the winter *grin* Seriously, they don't have any temperature extremes.

I'd like to see them not use AC in Texas when it's 95 (or more) in the summer -- all 6 months of it -- and when it only goes "down" to 73 at night, with 97 percent humidity. "Open the windows at night and close them in the morning" doesn't work here -- I've tried.

  • They certainly have me beat when it comes to gardening --

But maybe we should be in different "leagues". Like in boxing, where you have "heavyweight", "featherweight", etc.

That is, "Those without kids" and "Those trying to raise a family".

I notice it's just 4 adults. Of course they have more time for gardening and homesteading projects than 2 adults trying to take care of 3 kids under 4 years old. So it wouldn't be fair to "compare" my pathetic garden with theirs :)

  • That's the way everyone used to live.  My dad grew up in the city yet they had chickens, rabbits for food and a huge garden.  I can still remember the huge garden my grandpa grew on a small city lot, and he was an old man when he did this.

Even if you were willing to show off and be famous, this channel would never praise any Traditional and devout person. they are horrible atheists.
But even a self-proclaimed Trad can be wasteful and hedonistic. If such a one is a woman, she can make as much blogs as she can then promote using expensive wasteful beauty products, perfumes and clothes under the pretence of "restoring the true feminity" or "being a woman he admires". In this way she can claim that it is a misionary work to defeat feminism!
They remind me of my ex-religion and how we had to perform ritual bathing once a mouth and vozooo washing three times (or more) a day, and still see how married ladies envied our freedom. poor creatures! they had to use much make up, color their nails then wash and wipe all of it before any vozoo, renew their make up again and then perform a ritual shower if anything happend between them their men. Then wipe and wash agian, vozoo and prayers!
All these a good shiah wife (!) must do to keep her man from sin. :barf:
