How are you supposed to get married today when there is no single Catholic Priest available? For me at least there isn't, as I live in Nicaragua. I think it's 100% Novus Ordo here.

Can you get married without a Priest?

Catholics in Japan lived without priests for generations with only two sacraments when all priests were expelled from the country many, many years ago: Baptism and Matrimony. When priests were finally allowed to return they were amazed to find a large, thriving Catholic presence.

What did they do? I've never read any specifics. But I would guess that they married in a civil ceremony to satisfy State requirements then privately, in front of witnesses, exchanged the marriage vows of the Catholic Church.

I will pray that God sends you priests.

Some religions allow their followers to marry in private with no priest, no ceremony no witness, no need to follow legal requirements etc. Just the boy and the girl in a room, the boy says:" I take you as wife." the girl consents etc.
How can a girl be sure of the boy's intention? How to know if he is not saying this to 10 other girls? How to know if he won't break his promise the tomorrow morning???
