How many recall in the 1950s when we boys cycled from church to church getting as many out of Purgatory as possible. 

It's a pretty simple indulgence to get if you go to confession and Communion this Sunday, keep yourself out of sin (duh), and then visit one cemetery and attend Mass on All Saint's Day.

Even if you can't meet all the requirements (your reasons are your own), the visit to a cemetery or two is always worth it regardless.

Plenary indulgences for the Poor Souls:
Six General rules for obtaining a plenary indulgence:

State of grace at least when performing the indulgenced act
Complete detachment from sin, even venial sin
Confession (8 days before or after the indulgenced act)
Communion on the same day
Prayers for the Supreme Pontiff
Indulgenced act: a special good work with special conditions of place and time
Indulgenced acts to be performed for obtaining a plenary indulgence:

From November 1 to 8: visit of a cemetery with mental prayer for the poor souls.
On November 2: visit of a church or an oratory with one Our Father and one Creed being recited.

A partial indulgence can be obtained any time by visiting a cemetery and praying for the Poor Souls.

The following prayer is especially recommended:

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace. Amen.

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

What do you mean?  Novus Ordo did publish their own Enchiridion Indulgentiarum.  Partial Indulgeces of course are all but eliminated except that the Church multiplies their intrinsic value (kindof like a Matching 401K Plan).  But there are still some notalbe Plenary Indulgences left.  Of course, that's if they're legitimate popes.  If not, then you could look at the old idulgences.  Or, if you're on the fence, try to find some that have Plenary Indulgence in BOTH the old AND the new enchiridions.

The Enchiridion Indulgentiarum is a thin pamphlet in comparison with the Raccolta —and— it was promulgated without legitimate authority —and— it is especially tragically ironic that Jorge mentions indulgences for the Poor Souls in Purgatory but… but… but… he doesn't even believe in the place.

It just heaps another burning coal on the hellfire of the asinine belief that contumacious heretics can be Popes.

For me, the agony has been the legitimately stipulated condition in the Raccolta of praying for papal intentions. These days I pray an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be "for the papal intentions necessary to free suffering souls from Purgatory," and trust Our Lord.

Maybe pray for a miraculous conversion..

Yes, precisely so. Hence… the usual prayers for "papal intentions."

These are the Pope's intentions no matter who is the Pope:

• The Exaltation of the Church
• The Propagation of the Faith
• The Extirpation of Heresy
• The Conversion of Sinners
• The Concord between Christian Princes
• The Further Welfare of the Christian People

The time question first. How can days and years count in Purgatory where there is aeviternity, no time existing.

While time never exists in eternity, time still exists - it exists here on earth. I always thought that time will end at the end of the world, at which time all the souls in purgatory will  be released from purgatory, joined with their bodies and enter heaven. Not necessarily in that order. I guess I base this on, I think it was Our Lady of Fatima who when asked about a certain soul, said that soul would remain in purgatory until the end of time.

We can choose who gets the indulgence, if that person is already in heaven then God can apply it to whomever He wishes. 

When one loses a loved one they are left questioning for the rest of their life.

It seems there is plenty of room for discussion on the subject of indulgences. Anyone like to begin? I am sure many will benefit from any lost or unknown theology on Purgatory, especially me.

Yes, we never know "if they made it" in this life. For example, my parents and closest friends /relatives, the ones who kept the faith, received the Last Rites and had the Gregorian Masses said for them, yet I still pray daily for them. It may seem redundant but if they are in heaven then all is good, if not then hopefully they will be soon - either way we did / are doing our duty and all is good with us before God in that department.

I will often offer prayers for mom, dad, etc., Myrna, etc., "and all the souls in purgatory that I know or who know me." Sometimes I add all kinds of people, like all trads, all clergy (some by name), relatives and ancestors, and so on - in order that I get first dibs on who gets the indulgences. 

In the end, the more souls we can help, the more help we will receive from them!
