  • Good article. Never knew all this. Very sad.

I really want to celebrate Advent and Christmas the truly Catholic way but how can we go back to the traditional way if we have family members who are Catholics yet follow the Protestant way? The Christmas buying season used to be December 25th through February 2nd, but I can't be expected to shop for a Christmas gift after Christmas day and give it when family members already see Christmas gift-giving as being over.

  • The devil is the one behind making Christmas come much sooner than it actually does, and the Protestants (and sadly, even some of the Novus Ordites) fall for it hook line and sinker.

I'm not afraid to wish someone "Merry Christmas" even after December 25th. Traditional Catholics start celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve and continue to celebrate it until January 5th.

  • While I was in the car today they were playing Christmas music on the radio! Absolutely ridiculous. It's not even Thanksgiving yet and they are playing Christmas music. Oh, but as soon as Christmas Day is over, they throw it out the window and don't play Christmas music anymore. That comes from the Protestants, and it only shows how they have bought into secularism. "How the Protestants stole Christmas" is the perfect name for this article.

It's comletely illogical when you think about it. Does anyone start celebrating their birthday over a month before the day it falls on? Of course not. And this is no ordinary birthday, this is the Birthday of Christ! How absurd to stop celebrating His Birthday after Christmas Day is over. I'm sure when Our Lord was born, the world didn't celebrate it for just one day (or for a month before hand either, for that matter). It is a trick of satan to get the world to celebrate Christmas from mid-November to December 25th. Traditional Catholics don't even start celebrating it until Christmas Eve, and they don't stop celebrating it until January 5th.

And while we're speaking of Christmas music, alot of it is nothing but secular garbage. I mean, songs like "Frosty the Snowman", "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Jingle Bells" (which interestingly was originally written to celebrate Thanksgiving), etc. What does any of that foolishness have to do with the Birth of Christ? It has NOTHING to do with it, and the Protestans have played a big role in the secularlization of Christmas. It really makes me sick.

Its sort of like people are programmed zombies. Whats that movie, that when everyone heard either music, or a certain noise, they would act robotic? When the radio stations start to play Christmas music in November, its a signal to the masses that their time to apply for, and start using, credit cards has come!

  • That's what it's all about according to the modern world. It's all about the gift giving, the spending, and the advertising. The modern world never mentions the true meaning of Christmas. They sometimes will thrown in a different "true meaning" by saying the true meaning is spending time with family and friends. That's a trick from the devil, he throws in a meaning that has a little morality but doesn't mention the fact that it is Christ's Birth. It is very sad how much Christmas has been modernized.

  • thank you Matthew! I read this to my husband (who is baptized and First Communion- but like myself parents left when he was young, he does not consider himself Catholic but very supportive of me)

when i finished  reading  i said .. now if I replaced Catholic with protestant you would have thought it was correct... he nodded yes... I said .. this proves  that the Catholic faith ( not NO but Traditional) is the true Christian faith and protestant is a fraud and deception.

this article is  "in a nutshell" apologetics.  thanks again for posting it.

  • It's sickening how commercialized Christmas has become, and the birth of our Lord, Savior, and Messiah is just herded into the background or dropped altogether.

Also if I hear this again I'm going to get angry.

    "Happy Holidays!"

    "Season's Greetings!"

    "Happy Hannukah!"

    "Happy Kwanzaa!"

    Yes. Thank you.

I have a question: since December 24 is a vigil day, what is traditional/permissible behavior of this time? Can we feast in the evening? But not the day? What about decorating on the 24th? Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I don't particularly mind hearing those things if they come from non-Christians and are directed at non-Christians.  That makes sense.  Hearing them from Christians directed toward other Christians is infuriating.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir
