It's a fact that the US government profits immensely from the drug trade.

Why do you think we went into Afghanistan? To find Osama Bin Laden and fight the Taliban? Hahahahahahaha....

Seriously though -- the Taliban, being Islamic fundamentalists, do not approve of drugs like Opium. So they outlawed the raising of poppy plants. And guess what happened a couple years after we went into Afghanistan? Record poppy production! Mission accomplished. Making the world safe for Opium production (and strategically important oil pipelines).

The "war on drugs" is a farce -- only the independent upstarts are arrested -- that is, the "competition" for the approved drug producers/distribution networks. The BIG guys are well known by the government, and the government gets a cut of the action to fund black-ops projects, etc.

I've read articles written by CIA spooks, complaining how they KNEW where major drug lords lived and operated, but they were repeatedly forbidden to bust or arrest them.

Parents-f.T., my thoughts are that it benefits the Dark Side to suppress a natural alternative to Prozac (or whatever the anti-depressant du jour is).

Somebody once said something like, 'They lie awake at night with the uneasy feeling that somewhere, people might be enjoying themselves".

It's all about creating hopelessness and despair in the Dark Side.

I do not think God would endorse the green herbs if they hindered the use of reason. The Bible says what it says.
