It is truly incomprehensible. Eternity is a perpetual 'now.'
Whenever I've tried to explain that to someone who is very worldly, they reply
that it "sounds pretty boring," or "I prefer a lot of action" and the jokes are
endless. "You call this a party? The beer's warm, the women are cold, and
I'm hot under the collar!" (Groucho Marx)
I wonder what Padre Pio would have to say about that.
Maybe something like, Okay, so you prefer a lot of
action - you'll be happy to
know then: you'll have all the
action your heart desires, and more, in hell.
I had a chance to meet Padre Pio but I passed it up. Muffed it. So when I had
a chance to meet Fr. Hector Bolduc I made sure not to miss it this time. Thank
God for second chances!
I'll never forget the askance looks he gave me, like "What are you lookin' at?"
He was just a man, being what he was, but man, what a priest of God!
