  • You know I see so many stories about how hard women have it in life doing the housework, feeding the animals, raising the kids, etc. but I see no topics about how hard the man has it in life.

The man has to pay for everything, make the sound decisions, work one, more than likely two jobs, do the yardwork, do all the work that requires that you're good with your hands, etc. and let's not forget the man is also raising the kids as well.

Well you may say "Well at least the man leads the household!" and that is exactly the point. Since he leads the household he holds the responsibility for his family's welfare. What job could be harder than a working man having to provide everything for his family's existence?

  • Neither men nor women are meant to live a life of ease.  Both can have it tough or easy or anywhere in between.  That's just life.

  • Genesis 3:19
    Quote
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth, out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

    Being a mother.

My wife works significantly harder than I do.  I go to my garden office to "work" and it feels like resting compared to being inside the house and dealing with six children.

If you are digging holes in the road all day, however, I agree.  But mothers of large families do work very hard.

  • I find it funny that you are reflecting on how hard men work without ever having supported a family.

Each has their own lot with its difficulties and strife. I don't really think it is just to compare them, God has ordained it to be this way and we should take it for what it is, not pit one against the other.

Modern, worldly men with two children do have it very easy. Oftentimes, both parties work and because of this they are able to have more luxury and are able to hire out things that others might do themselves, like eating dinner in a restaurant or getting take out every night of the week.

Couples who live the Catholic ideal of marriage take care of their own lot without worrying about who is doing more.

  • And by the way, I think family men work very very hard and I appreciate and admire all their efforts.

I can thank you women for that.

Lord knows I had plenty of opportunity "to start a family" but that would mean getting together with anyone and I set my standards pretty high. Anyone who has read my posts knows that about 99% of women would find me an evil person.

I do however work hard every day to make sure I can make it in life by doing manual labor so I do know how hard men work.

  • Hahaha!

There are some really great and inspiring "trad" fathers out there. Mother too, I'm often edified by both.
