Next year, I am placing a 3’ gold altar cross on my roof, illuminated by a flood light.
That sounds beautiful, but don’t whine if you get some “pushback” from people who don’t like it.  You’re trying to ‘make a statement’ and there will be plenty of others who will react to make an opposite statement.  It’s not persecution, just human nature.

  • It didn't freak me out.

    It pissed me off.

And next year, I will be ready for them.
If you were to fire two or three shots into the ground, they would flee for dear life, and well, let's just say that they might end up leaving a trail...
Another way to accomplish the same end is to get some really large "snap-and-pops" --- they're little paper sacks, about the size of a raisin, filled with gunpowder and tiny bits of gravel, when you throw them against a solid surface, they explode with no damage and no fire hazard.  The larger ones sound just like gunshots.  Great fun!

Not smart.  You could go to jail for illegally discharging your firearm.

  • Hide behind a tree with an air horn! Hehehe. Return one prank with another.

Then offer them some candy as they are running away.

Seriously though. I tend to agree with Pax. Halloween isn't so bad.

Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  • I have never had to deal with Halloween candy and such because I have always bone to Holy Mass that evening.

  • The modern celebration of Halloween is definitely uncatholic, but it's not anti-Catholic.  There's a big difference.  We live in a formerly-protestant-quickly-turning-pagan country.  As Catholics we are required to fight anti-Catholic ideals which attack our Faith.  Fighting merely uncatholic ideals is not usually prudent, nor spiritually fruitful...usually the opposite.

Depends on where you live.  The Second Amendment protects people's rights to do this.  Firing shots into the ground or into an embankment harms on one.  It would be for sound effects.

If you live in a city, an HOA (as I do, unfortunately, but it keeps property values stable), or similar jurisdiction or quasi-jurisdiction, there could be laws against this, depending upon the jurisdiction.  But otherwise, it's your prerogative.

My father heard some juvenile delinquents on his front porch many years ago, stealing porch furniture as a prank.  He ran after them and had a fall that left him disabled.  I told him all he would have had to do, would be to fire some rounds from a .22LR pistol into the ground, and they would have dropped the furniture and run like scalded dogs.  Instead, he ended up in the hospital and they ended up in my father's living room, blubbering about how sorry they were.  "Sorry" didn't heal my father's injuries --- he has problems to this day.  As far as I know they continued to collect their welfare checks.

  • Obviously, firing off a couple shots into the ground (lol) is not a reasonable or proportionate response.

I was thinking more like getting a security doorbell which films all motion, and then sending the recording to the police and filing a hate crime complaint.

    They will be completely bewildered:

Cop:  “But sir, only Catholics are haters.  The poor sodomites are the victims.”

Me: “Obviously, the recording you will see on this thumb drive (of which I have several copies, and also an uploaded video to my private YouTube channel) shows otherwise, and I am just as entitled to the full protection of the law as any aggressive ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ vandals.  Remember: They came for me.  I did not come for them.”

Your plan is actually a pretty good one.  I can't afford a security doorbell but I do have a .22 pistol (two, actually).  And I also have a couple of boxes of snap-n-pops left over from the 4th of July --- my son and I like to flip them onto the patio for laughs.  Scares the feral wildlife.  We're kind of rednecky that way.  Throw in a bug zapper and a six-pack of your favorite beverage, and you've got an evening of cheap entertainment.  (Yes, those are banjos you heard just now.)

  • Consider giving the flags to your kids to cut into rainbow shapes and incorporate into art projects depicting Noah's Ark, as a reminder of the proper symbolism rather than the homo-hijacked one. Just a thought...

Yours is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS advice, advice that has a high probability of seeing your advisees prosecuted and jailed.

You may only shoot in circuмstances in which a "reasonable man" fears for their own or another innocent's life. In such circuмstance you may only shoot to end the threat and only shoot until the threat ends. Some states require that you retreat and have nowhere left to retreat before you may shoot. Other states have "Castle doctrine" or "stand your ground" laws, but nowhere are "warning shots" allowed. It should not be necessary to add, once the threat is over, you may not continue to shoot. There are, of course, nuances that vary from state to state.

I suggest that you (and others here) consult with the USCCA (US Concealed Carry Association) https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/ for solid legal advice.
