I ask because I'm wondering about your opinions on it. Is it good? Bad? Had luck with it? Thought it was inaccurate?
[Edited to add, I saw "Seton" and thought you meant "Saxon". Two different things. It's been a long day and I am tired after having to provide in-home care for my mother who is ill. I'm leaving my comments intact, though, because you can never know too much about homeschooling.]
I don't know about the test, but we gave up on Saxon after a year and a half (all of Grade 6 and halfway through Grade 7). It's a great course, and believe you me, you
will be a math whiz by the time you finish it, but the volume of work is punishing, and it's not for everyone. At the end of the first semester in Grade 7, my son begged me to stop, he couldn't take it anymore, so we switched to the much simpler Fisher texts, which will get you through Grades 7 and 8. We are now using the Sadlier Oxford series, which is somewhat along the same lines, but a much easier workload. (Sadlier needs to stick to math and get out of the religion business. We use the Baltimore Catechism for that.) The main flaw with Sadlier is that they take very simple concepts and drill down to a level of detail that no pupil needs. I streamline it to "get to the point", so far with much success. You really only need the workbooks. Sadlier stops after Algebra I and we are planning to use the Cord series for Algebra II and Geometry, it emphasizes practical math.
