And when you take her to Mass , find some Catholic women to help and mentor this young lady.

What's wrong with inviting people to Mass? " Imitation of Christ" book is positive and has helped many people with their faith and morality.

Nadir makes an excellent point wear miraculous medal and brown scapular and pray the rosary too.  Even give the person you are try to save the Miraculous Medal, brown scapular and rosary that have been blessed by a priest along with instruction cards.
May God bless you and keep you

  • It is a blessing from God that Desmond is back to being a Catholic.   We are all always learning about our faith.  Our purpose on earth is to know and live God so we can serve God.
May God bless you and keep you

Are you praying the Rosary, Desmond?
    Wearing the Miraculous Medal?

    No I'm not.

I reckon it would be safer to work on the sodomites! But then again, I guess you're not looking for safety.

Why would that be? Maybe I am attracted to sodomy. You don't know that.

I expected this kind of gutter-thoughts from the unsaved, who automatically assume a Man can only have interest in a woman for sensual reasons.. but it isn't the case.

I always liked the company of women, true, but often devoid of romantic or sensual feelings. It is not my fault others are unable to separate the person (even including her femininity) from the woman as such.

Besides, sodomites disgust me and are abomination.

    Quote from: Tiffany
Do you have the same compassion and desire to rescue young men who are stuck in a bad or immoral life?

Fist off, Man are more culpable for their actions as individuals, seeing how they have a modicuм of will power, so no, I'm not as compassionate with them.

Plus how would that work exactly? They'd think I am a sodomite lusting after them. It's not doable unless they are already your friends.

    Quote
Why don't you take on a second job and give the funds to a group of trad religious women.

I already found a second job starting April 1st. I'll be working 13 hours a day then. But I'm not giving any money to anyone anyway.

We are not negative! You are a young man and we respect human nature.

As I said. You too are uncapable of even imagining someone could rise up above the weakness of the flesh and basal human instincts. Incredible.

I agree. Of course it is. Unfortunately I wouldn't even have resorted to this kind of thread if there were any decent women even willing to do anything in the first place. Think about it.

There's nothing wrong with taking someone to Mass, I would like to do that. Unfortunately the only slightly acceptable Mass in my area is an indult NO Latin service. And as I said in my very I.P. the nearest SSPX chapel is 350+ km away.
Not that I honestly trust the SSPX anyway.

Thank you. It irks me that someone would even think I'd apostatise over some trollop. I may not be a Saint, but never in my life (not even when I was a-religious) I thought about ditching my principles for some earthly ephemeral gratification. It's just offensive to say.

  • Why did you ask the question if you already decided it's a great idea and any other input must be from the gutter?

Don't kid yourself. There are plenty of places these girls can go hang out if they truly don't want to be in the bars. Running to the arms of yet another random guy, a very proud one who may be Catholic but doesn't practice any part of it, isn't the answer.

Infatuation is what is motivating you, it is very clear to all but you. And your responses insisting that you could never fall? Take a moment to hear yourself.

This tends to belie a modernist understanding of male & female relationships.

Yes Desmond we are just too base and carnal so we won't give you a pat on the back to start a one man mission to convert loose young women.  :laugh2:

"There's a mix of passion and shortsightedness in me, even when I'm positive that I'm doing my very best to see things for what they are, that warns me that I'll never know for sure. And the consensus is: a silly dangerous thing.

Desmond, it is the height of arrogance to ask us for our opinion and when we give it you call us "unsaved".
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • Don't fall under the fallacy that you can be a white knight, come in on your white stead and save these "damsels" in distress. If anything as has been said here numerous times you will place yourself in jeopardy and temptation. It's more likely these women will use you as their emotional counselor and distract you from improving yourself and your spiritual well-being. Desperate women like to keep men supporters orbiting around them for attention and validation. As soon as you stop being useful or they find someone who catches their attention they'll ignore you from their lives. If that doesn't happen they will eventually become bitter at any success you have or attempts to improve yourself and sabotage you. Misery loves company.

    Quote from: McCork

Particularly when Desmond admitted that he, after 3 years of reading the catechism, has not yet discerned the fundamentals of Catholicism. Get the fundamentals down before going to such extraordinary measures to convert someone.

You gotta love the McCork. You old rascal you.

Sorry, I should have quoted you...

    Quote from: Desmond
    I'm Desmond,
30 years old, male, and originally from somewhere in the European subcontinent.
After decades of atheism/agnosticism/idontgiveahootism I've recently come back to "catholicism" (after an inner call of sorts).

The issue is I have a very poor understanding on what Catholicism is supposed to even entail, due to all the confusion in our time.

I've been trying since the very beginning to discern the basic tenets of the faith, to little avail, mainly by reading the catechism, magisterial docuмents, etc.

Desmond, you really misunderstood what I said.  I never said that you would lose your faith by helping someone.  I was just noticing that in the past you were away from the Catholic faith.

The purpose for all of us is to know and love God so we can serve Him.
May God bless you and keep you

  • Also, you were really hard on everyone who is trying to give you advice.

I have seen people who were really lost and turned themselves around.  Jesus even says "go and sin no more.

Confession regularly helps a lot too.

May God bless you and keep you
