  • I would again like to point out to Adesto and the Jansenist ilk in this Foum that the Catholic Bible is very clear-- herbs as opposed to the Prot herb. No green herb can be excluded from God's blessing as no exceptions are made note of.

I was actually serious when I mentioned to SJT that he( and all others of a prohiitionist, Jansenist mind) is engaging in heresy. He is opposing God's specific words-- not to mention the Tradition of the Church -- which has no record of any action at all taken against the use of any green herb.

Okay, I take that back.  Pot is classified as a drug and using drugs is a "grave offense" even by the laws of the Vatican II Church, not to mention that it's illegal.

    I repent, Lord!

    I've never done pot.

What is coffee?  What is nicotine?  What is advil?  What is morphine?  Are these all grave offenses?

Putting the legality of pot aside for the moment (since it's not illegal everywhere), do you not think you should come up with a better argument?

  • Well, Roscoe, if you think the Bible inspired by the Holy Ghost gives you full permission to do cocaine, and I'm a Jancenist for disagreeing with you...there's not much point in continuing this arguement. Our views are so diametrically opposed that there is no meeting point. I can't help thinking that at some point you're going to reveal the punchline and that the joke has been on me for believing that you're serious.

    I wish you well.

  • Early Beatles-- and I pay attention to the Bible. I am not advocating the use of cocaine-- only saying that making it illegal creates a bigger problem-- a police state. The substance was never made illegal b4 the 20th Century.

I would imagine that Adesto accepts the v2 anti-popes.

  • The sinfulness of drugs depends on the effects of the drugs.

I doubt chewing Coca leaves (like Bolivian peasants) or taking Coca Wine like Leo XIII did is a sin.

  • So there we have it-- the continuing discussion of substances has yielded that two Popes  condemned tobacco and one was fond of coca wine.

  • Re: Beatles-- Recently the entire catalogue has been digitally remastered and newly released. After spending the last 6 weeks listening to the new re-issues it can be safely stated that the sound quality is fantastic.

  • Any description of the early Beatles music as evil is only the product of a Jansenist mind.

It comes under the 5th commandment -- doing no physical harm to yourself or others.

Newsflash: we don't get all our guidance from the Bible. We're not Sola Scriptura around here. We have the Bible and Tradition, and the Church to clear things up.

    Matthew

I thought the 5th Commandment WAS  in the Bible. And MJ use that is not abuse is not harmful-- far from it. Most of you have never gotten high anyway and as such don't even know what you are talking about.

Another post has said re: the Bolivian peasants that their use of Cocaine might not be considered sinful but I disagree with that. A whole lifetime of every day sucking cocaine leafs( this is a big prob in Bolivia and environs) DOES incapacitate one.

The Pope of course has the right idea-- a very small amount of the potent herb is all that is necessary.

I think this actually refers to unjustly seeking to injure and kill others.
