I think it depends on how you live. We have so many superfluous things now that I wonder if some of those actually get included in the "cost of living" statistics. Indeed, in San Antonio, things are cheaper I guess compared to other areas of the U.S., and the city is growing too. It could all crash though, and we must be prepared for when that happens.

I think the issue of urban life, rural life, and Catholicism has been discussed somewhere before, but I think there needs to be some kind of moderation. The city life today is just ridiculous and anti-Catholic, imho, from what I have gathered about the city life. The suburban life is still not the greatest thing either. Now the rural life is perhaps better, but even that I imagine has been affected in some way. In any U.S. civilized environment, naturalism reigns now. There is a false reality everywhere. If you live in the city, there's selfishness that can be accepted as normal. In the suburbs, you know you have to go to work, but there's earthly fun too. In the rural areas, you might be living simply and humbly, but you have to be careful not to also fall into a false reality because there is a bigger world out there. The rural life is probably the best route to go, but right now, many of us have to be concerned about Traditional Latin Mass locations, our debts, jobs, and other responsibilities. Unfortunately, some of us then have to stay in the cities and suburbs.
