  • I wonder if he has someone in mind...

The two examples given by the AP would come under the heading of heroic virtue wouldn't they?

If it ain't broke don't fix it. :fryingpan:

  • Well, no surprise here. Whatever was left as being even slightly Catholic MUST be removed during this Pontificate.

    Kyrie eleison.
Please disregard everything I have said; I have tended to speak before fact checking.

  • A good example of this would be St. Maximilian Kolbe.

  • The conciliar sect must always have something new to undermine whatever has come before in the Catholic Church.

Exactly!  Another reason modern "saints" can be questionable.  From what I have read of his life I do not doubt his personal holiness but I never understood why his personal sacrifice qualified him for sainthood, although living his life in heroic virtue certainly would.

  • Anti-popes can't canonize or beatify anyone. I no longer believe any Vatican II pope anything. Kolbe was "canonized" by JPII.

  • Perhaps this is his sneaky way to eventually approve ѕυιcιdє and as the years go by, it will no longer be a sin.  Not a really New Path to Sainthood but a new conditioning of the laity, I can just see based on what has already gone on in the new church the method of operation. Working with the youth as the elderly die off.
    Please pray for my soul.

If you don't doubt his personal; holiness then it was that holiness that led him to offer his life in exchange for that of another.

  • But he was NOT a martyr.  JP2 invented "martyr of charity", no such designation had EVER existed in the church prior to JP2.  He just dreamed that one up for his own mysterious reasons.  True Roman Catholics do not fabricate excuses for anything, much less a "Pope" daring such a thing.

There would have been no "martyrdom of charity" were there no holiness to begin with.

There would have been no "martyrdom of charity" because there IS no martyrdom of charity.

All holiness is a martyrdom of charity. Some people give their lives in an instant while others spend years in martyrdom of charity. this is the essence of holiness.

  • Holiness - Holiness or sanctity is the outcome of sanctification, that Divine act by which God freely justifies us, and by which He has claimed us for His own; by our resulting sanctity, in act as well as in habit, we claim Him as our Beginning and as the End towards which we daily unflinchingly tend.

  • There were four or five Catholic priests onboard the Titanic.  They all went down with the ship.  They stayed behind to hear Confessions and offer the Sacraments.  The Protestant ministers all sought to save their own skins because Protestantism is a worldly belief that celebrates the here and now and self-glorification.

The above is unrelated to the topic at hand but those priests on the Titanic gave their lives so others could have the chance to confess their sins and receive the sacraments.
