Is it okay to interpret scripture as long as it does not contradict Catholic dogmas?

  • I think this is ok when done as you describe. But The Church is the ultimate authority, teacher, and interpreter of the Bible, so I suggest researching anything you may derive from Scripture just to be sure you're not straying into "protestantism" lol. Over and over we are encouraged to read The Bible, especially the Gospel. And, you can ask questions on here and I'm certain you will have responses to either confirm or deny your findings. Haha.

[30] And Philip running thither, heard him reading the prophet Isaias. And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest?
[31] Who said: And how can I, unless some man shew me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. - Acts 8:30-31
The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. - Ps. 88:2a
