  • It was with pleasant surprise the other night that I watched a movie called "Miracle in the Rain" with Jane Wyman and Van Johnson (1953).  It is a sweet, simple, heartfelt movie.  Jane Wyman's character is good, kind and gentle.  Van Johnson's character is cheerful and honorable and kind.  The love story is pure.  There are two sub-stories involving sin and redemption ... and the best of all is that the last half hour of the movie involves the main character's introduction to Catholicism through St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York by her friend and co-worker.  There the heroine is drawn to a statue of St. Andrew ... and later, there in the doorway of the Cathedral she encounter's her lost love through a miracle of God.
