  • This has been gone on over sort of already, but what is your chapel like (both the good and bad aspects)? I want to get an idea of what the reality of other SSPX chapels is like in comparison to the SSPX chapel I attend. Mine seems to be not in the best state right now, although still there are those who are truly concerned and are trying to find a way to improve the situation.

  • Our Chapel is very nice, family like. Everyone looks out and cares for everyone else. We help each other in our times of need in spiritual as well as material ways. We have just started a food pantry. We are a mission chapel, an extension off a larger chapel with an academy that is about 90 minutes from th=is mission chapel. There are 2 other mission chapels I believe as well as an all girl Academy our priests say Mass for. Our Chapel is small, a former Protestant Church complete with kitchen, dining room, classrooms, an office, and even a bedroom incase of severe weather that would require our priest stay there. It is neat, clean, and we just put new stone steps on the front of our Chapel. More importantly we have 4 holy priests who come and say the Mass for us and many happy healthy large Catholic families.

Did your chapel used to be an independant chapel?

That sounds really good. I wish the SSPX priory in my city were like this.

It's a small church that used to be Protestant. At one stage it had hundreds and hundreds of people but in the 90's the SSPX founded a school about 90 minutes away from this chapel and, as a result, pretty much all the young families moved down there. Now there's only 120 people at the sspx chapel in my city and most of them are old people. The choir is pretty bad and all the parish groups (legion, third order, etc) are attended by only a few elderly ladies. Sadly the chapel had a priest who was a bit crazy and as a result one of the families who remained left the chapel. That priest is gone now, and we have good ones, but I think they're finding the situation a little depressing.

There's also a crazy Germanic guy who once had a go at me because I had my hand in my pocket (this was outside of the chapel, and I was wearing a suit to Mass!).

On a positive note though there's a few elderly ladies at the chapel who have been involved with the Trad movement since the beginning. They've got incredibly interesting stories and are always offering to include me in their novenas! :D

  • Mine is full of very quiet on the issues of day-type Catholics. Rarely will anyone say anything that their "Pope" is doing as far as heresy or in the media. The priest is old, and still not fully "SSPX" but condones them and has their priests come to administer sacraments. Its sad, because once he's gone , either the SSPX will take it over entirely or ???
