  • Thanks!  Observing these “home-alone” helps me keep track of the date.  I used to never miss Confession, First Friday Mass, All Night Adoration, First Saturday Mass, then doing chores around the church, cleaning, etc.  I used to go to Confession, Mass, and attend an adult catechism or conference on Wednesdays, for nearly seven years.  Then, it was gradually shut down to where Sunday Mass was only three of four or five Sundays.  I tried for awhile, attending at another chapel that was three hours away, but it was too much and too expensive with tolls.  For a short time, I tried a diocesan Latin Mass, about which I never felt comfortable.  The attendance was about a dozen people, average age about 80!  Then, it too, was cut back from every Sunday to every other Sunday, to once a month, then not at all.
Someone once made fun of me in front of several priests, for showing up on a Wednesday with bad driving weather.  They wanted to know why I would bother to drive an hour and a half every week, as if I had to be a bit off the rails.  I recall saying, “Because the day is coming when there won’t be Mass, priest, or Sacraments.”  Little did I know, it turned out my remark was prophetic.
