Title: Favorite Gospel

Okie Doke Ladies and Gents. I am curious what is your favorite Gospel and why? I like Matthew for the straight forewardness of it and in contrast I like John for its mystical-ness.

Mark.  Jesus is perpetually annoyed with his dense disciples.  Gives me some hope, since He kept putting up with them.

To be honest I have never thought about this question; don't believe I have a favorite.

I dont have a favorite. To be honest, I cant really remember which portions of the Gospels are contained in which book (with the exception of John), so all four books are infused into one beloved volume in my mind.

* You might notice that I dont add verse numbers whenever I quote scripture.

Lib NO priest once said his "least" favorite Gospel was the one where the bad servant gets stripes and the ignorant servant gets less stripes. He ignored it and preached on God's mercy and love...

Wow, this question is somewhat difficult to answer.

The Gospel according to St. Luke would be my choice because the first chapters reveal the Joyous Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, among other many reasons.  But then again, I would ultimately change my mind and choose the Gospel according to St. John, which is so sublime in its ethereally theological presentation of such sacred Mysteries as that of the hypostatic union of Christ's human nature with the Eternal Word, the only-begotten of the Father (the Last Gospel we all hear at the end of Mass), the Holy Eucharist, indwelling of the Blessed Trinity in the souls of the just, &c.

My most favorite Gospel lesson would be the Parable of the Prodigal Son (St. Luke, ch. xv., 11-32), which is so consoling to read before Confession. It is the Gospel lesson for the Mass of Saturday in the Second Week in Quadragesima (this coming Saturday).

But then again, a favorite Gospel lesson is that of Our Lord's discourse to the Samaritan woman (St. John, ch. iv., 5-42), which is found in the Mass for the Friday in the Third Week in Quadragesima.

But then again...

I have to stop now, or else I will never stop...

I like  the Gospel of Mathew because it contains the sermon on the mount which besides the Psalms are my favorite part of scripture.

Have you ever heard of the Diatesseron? It was compiled in the late 200's by a man named Tatian it is basicly a book that combines all 4 gospels. Its kind of the first Jesus novel.
