Yeah but that could stop any chance of their potential conversion or me being at a good influence on them.

Not saying this is you, but this is the typical excuse that trad families use to keep ties with relatives who dress immodestly, etc.. Sometimes (rarely) that might be legit, but what it most often is, is human respect weakness - the expectation of which is they will corrupt you, not the other way around.

In reality, when they know why you have disowned or can have nothing to do with them, *that* is your good influence, *that* is their incentive for conversion - meanwhile you have freed yourself (and those in your care) of any bad influence etc. from their company.

This thought may be a trick of the devil. One cannot be prudent enough when it comes to preserving one's own Faith and morals.

I cannot recall which verse, but I do remember that St. Paul teaches that bad company corrupts good morals.

If people are obstinate in their error, one may be morally certain of their damnation. At that point, it would take a miracle to convert them, which God does not grant that often.
You said it way better then me, 1Cor. 15:33 "Be not seduced: Evil communications corrupt good manners."

Thank you for finding the verse. I think your description was quite eloquent and satisfactory!

There is this tendency today to almost believe that Our Lord does not take care for those of good will. He certainly does, regardless if everyone around us is evil.

You have a noble intention, but your priority is your own soul first. This is the order of charity established by God, that we love Him above all things, then ourselves, and then our neighbour as ourselves.

I am ready to bring forth authoritative quotations to anyone who does not believe this.

Children with the use of reason will already begin to receive the inspirations of God to lead them to Himself. It is up to them to follow these holy inspirations.
