There's this:
Potato Yeast Starter for Baking Bread

There's others on the net.
What good would that do me if there are no potatoes and no flour?

You ask a good Catholic neighbour for a few potatoes.  They can drop them off at your door.

If they are not available at the grocery store what makes you think he would have them either? By the way, none of my neighbors are Catholic.

Ha! Ha!  I wish I had one!  Our good neighbor is 99 years old and cannot safely walk the distance.  I doubt she has any of either since her daughter arranges for microwavable meals to be dropped off.
