  • I've been meaning to ask, what is the meaning of this creepy semi-erotic picture? Looks like the man is about to kiss the girl. And the words 'holy virgins' written over it makes it even a bit more odd. Just wondering.  :dancing:

  •   I am so sorry if it annoyed you.
This image is inspired by the mystical writings of Sts like St. Teresa and other mystics and visionaries, who looked at Jesus as the spouse and lover of their souls. Our Lord is indeed called "the Spouse of Virgins".
I painted the image and the member Lybus added the rose and the words to it.
It shows our Lord and a consecrated soul.
If you just read the biography of Saint Gertrude of Helfta, you will see the erotic imagery she used.

  •   Ok I was really looking for an answer, but it was ruined by the member Boniface. I gone into deleting and re-instaling that image and totally forgot about my question.
It is rather an old thread. But any answers?
