In the name of God, I, N., release you, N., from your vow to be my wife. I thank you for the love and support you have given me. I ask your forgiveness for my part in the failure of our marriage.
Isn't Henry VIII's religion great?
When I read, "In the name of God...", for some reason that sounds similar to the priest's role, "In the person of Christ" as when a priest absolves us of our sins. Except you have a layman trying to fill that role, although not even a priest can annul a true marriage.
There was, I believe, an Anglican bishop who called for unity between Anglicans in the United States and Britain. It was concerning the admittance of gαy clergy, and no longer viewing ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity as a sin. If I remember correctly he had said: "It is better for us to accept heresy than schism."
If I wasn't Catholic, I think I would go mad.
