  • What is wrong with people nowadays? I thought lust was widespread -- but apparently sloth isn't far behind?

People are taking "lazy days" now. Back in my day, you took a "lazy day" when you were SICK and that's about it.

I think it's important to have balance like the days of old. work, rest, work, rest, repeat. I dunno.

Maybe they got used to "working" from home.

  • Maybe they got used to "working" from home. As Elon Musk said (paraphrased) when he transformed Twitter (colluding with government censors to stifle politically incorrect facts) into X -- "Everyone returns to the office Monday or else pretend to work somewhere else."

  • What is a "lazy day"? Is this just what they call the weekend?

  • A lazy day is one in which I have few or no obligations, in which I’m free to do as I please.  What pleases me is engage in recreational reading, drawing, needlework for fun, taking a leisurely walk or drive, sitting on the porch or campfire, taking a nap, wearing something comfy I wouldn’t wear to go out, listening to relaxing music, having a cup of ice-cold Kool Aid in summer or hot camomile tea in winter, and most of all, not looking at a clock.

A whole day spent in bed means I’m quite unwell, or completely exhausted from some very unusual circuмstance.

This is my favorite kind of lazy day, too.

    .

Yeah. I definitely don't think it's normal for a healthy person to spend all day in bed as a form of rest or recreation.

  • Millennials with bedsores‽ I can't imagine how they'll be when they're elderly.
If you don't use it (muscles, brain, heart, etc.), you'll lose it!

This was my point. And we're not talking about middle aged people, much less senior citizens. We're talking about people in their early 20's.
I never spent more than 10 hours in bed (sleeping) when I was that 21 or under. I had all kinds of stuff I wanted to experience and do!

Don't these Gen Z have any gumption, ambition, interests, or brains at all? Just rotting around scrolling on their phones.
Passively CONSUMING content -- never creating any.
My son knows one man IRL who does this. His lifestyle is extremely messed up. Letting alarms go off for hours, spending all day in bed, always with his phone, etc.

Indeed! I feel dead in bed unnecessarily long.
I forget the saint who said this, but he/she said we should jump out of bed in the morning as if it's on fire!

In sum, the godless society left the youth with nothing to be worthy of getting up. When they're not enslaved by corporation or so called education, they are enslaved by tittytainment to keep their brain high. Welcome to age Brave New World.

I think it can be summed up that nany young folk feel that
    Work and be broke
    Don't work and be broke

Due to high inflation, high rent, high housing, other societal problems like immigration, horrendous dating market, bad job market, and instant distractions with technology meaning no time is given to just stop and think for 20 minutes (doing nothing can make you bored forcing you to actually do stuff)
And other stuff I can't think off the top of my head.
